Thread Details

Harmony One remotes has this issue with its battery swelling causing it to be stuck in the remote and significantly reduced battery life.
Check your battery if it has a blue sticker on it, logitech may advise you to try using plyers to pull it out, i told them it's too tight. I suppose that if you're able to binge the battery off the case you'll get a battery replacement instead.
So here it goes:
1. Check if you qualify: Must have a harmony one remote (doesn't matter if it was a refurb or bnew), must have a blue sticker on it.
2. Email logitech let them know that battery is swollen, wont hold much cahrge (mine lasted roughly 6 hours after whole day of charge), battery is stuck, tell them that you've tried using some tools to pull it out but it was too tight. http://www.logitech.com/en-us/sup...-contactus
3. Logitech will reply asking for some remote and shipping details and a photo which includes both the remote's P/N and receipt.

You can call them too but my email transactions with CS were done within the day, very impressive customer support. They are aware of the problem and would offer a replacement without even asking.

Notes:
Logitech ships the new remote for free.

You don't need to send back the old remote, they will deactivate it. so might aswell do some program for other TV system before you call so you wont need to sync the device and probably apply their deactivation.

Some users still prefer the One over Touch, not sure if you could still get another One for replacement.

Warranty period doesn't matter, they give one time courtesy replacement for out of warranty units. Mine was about 2 years old, I've read others had their 3-4 year old harmony one getting replaced too.

Got mine refurbished $99, my receipt showed that price and still gave me a replacement.

Goodluck!

I upgraded 2 ONE's to Touch's about 2 months ago.,

The Touch is such a better remote.

Not digging the deal to shaft a company out, thumbs down.
I really want to like the Touch but it's got too many major flaws:

1) No RF option.
2) Transport control location is clumsy.
3) Lack of hard buttons for skipping forward/backward.

Logitech is an amazing company that stands behind it's products. If you actually have a problem, submit something to customer service and I guarantee they'll help you out. This isn't EA so don't try to abuse this process. That's how companies become EA...

I suppose it's all interpretation. The way I see it is, OP was telling someone that already has a swollen battery that they can put the battery back in and submit the claim to Logitech anyway and see what happens, and that their own picture sent to Logitech doesn't show the swollen battery.

Also, I believe it's not "warranty abuse", since these units are out of warranty, and Logitech is providing replacements as a courtesy to those affected by the issue that can prove that they are, or soon will be, affected. Get off your moral high horse, unless you're a Logitech employee masquerading as a slickdealer.EEK!
Logitech is trying to Make It Right by trying to make customers whole, regardless of their product's warranty status. If a guy has already gotten a defective battery out, then all he needs is a replacement battery. Instead, people are advocating that he parlay it into a free upgrade on Logitech's dime by specifically misrepresenting the problem.

The fraud is obvious. But this is SD, so I expect that to be secondary to The Deal.

They've also put out some crappy products in the Harmony line. Anyone that's got those chargers for the old 880/890 probably knows what I'm talking about.

I wrote to Logitech about a bulging battery issue in my One a few months ago. They offered to swap it out for a refurb and I took it. I was surprised when I received the remote and saw they had sent me a 900 instead. I counted myself lucky and took it. Maybe it wasn't a mix-up and they just don't have One's to swap? The 900 seems slower, but it is nice to have the RF ability.

Thos.

Mine was swollen too and it was a bitch to get out. I put in a 3rd party battery and its been working great.

I have had both he 880 and the One and they both have similarly slow response times for button presses (maybe a quarter to a third of a second).

Is this also the case with the 900 and Touch remotes?

I was kidding, hence the "LOL". Any space to fool around? And as you see less than a quarter of the battery shows and it's dark, no there is really no way of showing the swelling in pictures. Can't pull mine out.
If you have this defect request a battery replacement or a new unit, you shouldn't be paying for a new battery out of pocket, it's something that the company should have recalled in the first place but never did. Show it to logitech and they'll help.

That's what I really hate about my One, tried different combinations of delay but still has this lag issue. Are we not doing the settings right? I got tired of trying.

The Logitech rep that responded to me told me NOT to try taking the battery out once it has become swollen.

So I bought a remote via eBay that turns out to be a dud..same issues...battery dies in 30 minutes. Called Logitech and they offered to upgrade to Touch. So thanks for the tip!!
If I sync up the old remote, would it just not add new info or would it render it useless? Anyone tried that at all?

No luck for me. Mine is legitimately dead, battery wont hold a charge, but the guy said sorry, outside of 1 year just try a new battery. This is the first time Logitech support has been less than helpful, bummer.

Just got approved for an upgrade. My batter was having the same issue.
Bought my Harmony One as a refurb in August of 2011.
CSR said it was as a "one-time courtesy" (yeah yeah I've heard that line before)
