Modems supported by [comcast.net]Comcast - There are plenty of other DOCSIS 3.0 modems that are supported that can be had for less. Consider an Arris WBM760A

Caution: Newer devices like this might be controlled by your ISP to limit your speed to merely what you pay for, whereas you may be able to get more with an older device. E.g. I pay for 15mbps down, and I get 30+ with an SB5100, because when I used a device like this I was at or under 15mbps...-JohnRambo

^^^ THIS GUY IS WRONG !!!! I get 55 down and 10 up on comcast 29.99 plan (with older Model (Zoom doscis3) it was 25 down and 4 up)

No. HE IS RIGHT. Currently I am using this with Atantic Broadband and my plan is 20 down and 2 up. But I am getting 22 down and 2.33 upload. Not a drastic change.

Just wanted to add that from previous Moto DOCSIS 3.0 modems concerning ISPs not pushing updates to users who bought there own modems vs pushing the updates to those that did. Look back at the 6121 & previous recent threads for more information about that. - Don't know if that was Time Warner only or if it applied to other ISP's as well.

To the individual claiming the first post is wrong: Comcast has been rolling out 55MBPS service to those who subscribe to blast. Whereas you once received a 25-35MBPS speeds you should now be able to access 55MBPS speeds. These newer devices are easier to tier.
^^ I am not subscribed to blast... In my case the modem helped push the speed two fold is all I am saying.

**YOU CAN ALWAYS USE THE FORUM FOR CHAT....**

For anyone that subscribes to COX, ask for the D3 service (it's no additional charge). I get 65 down and 31 up regardless of peak hours. I didn't come close with my last router that I rented from them. http://speedtest.net/result/2618869465.png

Cox recently upgraded thePreferred package from 12MB (18 w/ PowerBoost) to 25MB / 5MB, but I didn't see any changes with my 2.0 modem (it would max out at around 22-23MB - Cox rep told me that PowerBoost goes as fast as your modem allows). Plus on the weekends speed would slow to a crawl at around 1-2MB. I installed the SB6141 Saturday and we were streaming video all weekend w/o any problems. Speedtest spiked to 35MB, and hung around 25-30 all weekend long. Great device.

Awesome deal given that this is the white retail version and not the potentially refurbished black case model. Bought a SB6121 last week on Newegg for $55 after rebate (front page deal). Surprised this hasn't made front page yet for just $15 more for this SB6421

Does Newegg still offer a $10 new customer code?

Close to the lowest price I've seen for the black version, with the bonus of the white having retail box, seems to have newer firmware and there are no (questionable) claims online that the white is used/refurb. Good one, thanks!

Just bought one on ebay from modems-modems for the offer of 67 shipped tax free. Had some eBay bucks from a SD tire purchase so this was a no brainer for me.

I don't buy the hype that the "black one is used or refurbished and the white one is superior" plus I don't have to fool around with paying $91 bucks and dealing with a rebate that comes in a prepaid debit card I got to keep up with.

The newer firmware is important to me too because from what I've read, the black ones have older firmware and Time Warner won't push out the update to it.

I got mine for $1 less than this. Although it was new, it was in brown box non-retail packaging. It was also the black version and not the white. It's probably worth waiting for the rebate and paying the extra $1 to get the full retail warranty.
