I don't understand why these laptops don't have blu-ray. We've switched over completely to bluray now.

What's the point of a low-capacity optical drive in a new laptop???

Not paying a licensing fee to Sony for each laptop shipped and having to pass the cost on to the consumer x 3 to make up for it as overhead throughout the retail supply chain.

Optical drives are fast becoming unnecessary.

Yeah it's retarded, I suppose due to sony being too greedy at this point. Blu-ray has been out long enough that at least a low speed reader should be included in every laptop. nod

This machine has everything I am looking for in a work / multimedia laptop for $200 less than I would expect to pay! however.... I just cannot bring myself to buy such an ugly computer. It is the least attractive peace of hardware I have seen in many years.

So you are saying this laptop should be priced r between $279 and $329. Computers in that price range do not have an i5 processor unless refurbished....of course there are exceptions but for the most part they have i3s or worse

The 1366 x768 resolution screen is a real deal killer for me. Anything under 1080p always feels large and pixelated to me now Frown

Pretty good machine but seems to be about the right price for a 3rd gen core i5 laptop. I wouldn't pay much more for it and wishes it'd drop down to the $379-399 range, then it'd be a slick deal.

yes exactly, i'm just saying if I were to buy a 15.6 laptop this week, this would be the 5th or 6th option on my list. There's not a noticeably big diff between i3 and i5 (assuming same generation) , the bottle neck for this laptop will be the weak integrated graphics card and the lack of SSD.

While I don't have an alternative to buy, I'm just saying if you look around you'll find something better and cheaper.
