Yeah, this is what I bit on. I've wanted a lighter macro than my sig 150 and the few times I have borrowed a friends 105VR I've loved the sharp shots. $800 is still a ton of coin for a specialty lens but as much as I love shooting critters I'm sure I'll get good use of it.
A lot of coin indeed, but at least you'll have the option to take tack sharp portraits too
Just a word of warning, if you order from the Nikon outlet be sure to be home to receive your package because Nikon does not require signature confirmation and apparently does not insure either. I'm only now getting resolution for a package that never showed up in November (looong story), and it has been a nightmare communication-wise; I've literally had to call or email around 30 times. I've never before had a shipper accuse me of being at fault for a problem during the shipping process. All of the Nikon reps I talked to individually were very polite, but very few actually did anything to help. I enjoy Nikon products, but all my purchasing in the future will be from an authorized dealer who actually cares about the customer.
Was considering a 70-300 VR as a gift for my wife. Can anyone say for certain if refurb lens purchased from the Nikon Outlet include any accessories (hood, pouch, etc). I would appreciate hearing your experiences.
Is it worth paying $359 at somewhere like Cameta (vs $309 shipped for me from Nikon Outlet) for better service, longer warranty, and the guaranteed included accessories (caps, hood, pouch)?
