Looks like the deal is dead now though. I was considering getting another.

Not dead. I just added it to the cart and here's what it says:

Save $402 & receive a $400 Dell PROMO eGift Card with this purchase sent via email in 10-20 days.

Still trying to decide if I should get it or not...

care to post your settings?
My settings will probably differ from most as I am using it for a computer monitor and not for normal TV viewing. I'll post mine later tonight, but I figured CNET's settings would be closer to what you are looking for. I know mine are vastly different than theirs since I use the TV in PC mode. It doesn't give you the option to use movie mode and many other options are disabled. The biggest difference I notice is the sharpness and backlight brightness. Color calibration seems to be vastly different too:

------Cnet Calibration------

Calibration notes: Samsung's Movie picture mode provided the best picture out of the box, although as usual it was too blue and somewhat too bright (50 Fl) for dim rooms. It calibrated very well, however, with a linear grayscale and very good gamma, notwithstanding a spike at 90%. For that reason I'd have liked to see a 10-point control, which was present on Samsung's D630 CFL TV compared in the review. The lack of CMS wasn't a major issue either, although if it was present I'm sure I could have corrected the too-bright green.

It's worth mentioning that I didn't engage LED Motion Plus (backlight scanning) because it dimmed the picture considerably. In Movie mode with the mode engaged the TV managed only 27Fl, a good deal short of my target of 40.

I just paid for it 1 minute ago, 1067.85 total. Not exactly sure what I'll do with the gift card, ebay is a bad idea, they charge like 10-14 percent in final value fees and I'd hate to give that much to ebay to sell. I'm sure I'll figure something out. Didn't really need a TV, just got a 40 inch Samsung a couple months ago, been wishing I got a 55in, so finally made the justification to buy. I wish I bought the dell 400 gift cards that came with bonus 75.00 gcs last month, woulda been much better.

I don't get why they would tell you that. If you add the TV to the cart, then go to your cart it states it right there that it includes a $400 gift card.

So once again, the deal is not dead....unless I'm somehow missing something.

I've had this set for nearly a month now. Don't be disappointed with it's out of the box settings, they suck. Take the time to calibrate it correctly and you will find it's a great deal for what you are paying.. AVS forums has A free calibration DVD you can download and burn, and you can buy A pair of blue filter glasses from the THX website for about $5.00 to help you with A correct calibration.
Don't be afraid to tweak the settings, just remember where you had it originally in case you find that setting is not for you.

Found a detailed review here:
http://www.televisioninfo.com/con...review.htm

Here are the settings I use for my PC. I really only spent about 15 minutes on these but its a massive improvement over defaults. I plan to do alot more tweaking when I get a chance.

-----PC SETTINGS ONLY------

First, edit the name of the input you are using for PC to DVI PC. This is very important as it changes the way the panel accepts the signal and will help improve the quality of the PC signal.
