Here's some different peoples settings just for more info:

(TOP AMAZON REVIEW SETTING with 47 replies)
1. PICTURE

Mode: Standard
Backlight: 20
Contrast: 90
Brightness: 44
Sharpness: 35
Color: 50
Tint: G50/R50

1A. ADVANCED SETTINGS
Color Space: Auto
Gamma: +3
Dynamic Contrast: Off
Black Tone: Off
Flesh Tone: +4
Motion Lighting: Off

1B. WHITE BALANCE
R-Offset: 25
G-Offset: 25
B-Offset: 25
R-Gain: 25
G-Gain: 25
B-Gain: 25

1C. PICTURE OPTIONS
Color Tone: Cool
Size: Screen Fit
Digital Noise Filter: Off
HDMI Black Level: Either (This setting will depend on what sort of input you are using. Some inputs may default at Normal and not allow you to change it; others will let you set one or the other. Normal is a much brighter setting than Low, so you have to try both and see which works best for you. For example, I have my game systems on a setting that darkens the picture but expands the available range of color, so therefore I use the Normal (brighter) setting.
Film Mode: Off
LED Motion Plus: Off

1D. AUTO MOTION PLUS
Auto Motion Plus: Custom
Blur Reduction: 7
Judder Reduction: 5

NOTE CONCERNING AUTO MOTION PLUS: The higher this setting, the more vertical desync (which I mentioned earlier in the reciew) you will receive with certain games. For example, when playing Far Cry 3 on the Xbox 360, any scene which resulted in a frame rate drop would produce the vertical tearing. Lowering the Auto Motion Plus (or even turning it off) had an positive impact on the tearing, reducing it (but not eliminating it all together). For normal television viewing, the tearing won't be an issue, but if you notice it while playing a game, set the Auto Motion to Clear or Off.

2. SOUND

Mode: Standard
SRS TruSurround HD: Off
Auto Volume: Off

2A. EQUALIZER
100Hz: Two notches down from highest "+" setting.
300Hz: All the way to "+" setting.
1KHz: Two notches down from highest "+" setting.
3KHz: All the way to "+" setting.
10KHz: All the way to "+" setting.

3. GAME MODE: Off

And that's pretty much it. Blacks are black, white is white, and every color in-between seems as close to "normal" as I can get them. Again, these settings may require your own fiddling to get "just right," but this seems like a good starting point.

Anyway, bottom line: the picture quality is superb. The negative I listed above aren't enough to warrant a detraction in stars when so many times I've been amazed by the quality of the picture being put before me. You will not be disappointed.

In view of this fact it really should come with a swivel stand.

Grabbed this TV the last time around. Once calibrated it's fantastic. I do agree that the first time you turn it on it looks like crap. Viewing angles are definitly an issue (if you are off to the side you'll get a washed out pic). If all you're looking for is a solid 55in without silly apps and 3D you won't find one better than this at the price. I flipped my dell gift cards at raise.com without issue. Much easier than e-bay (they do take a 15%cut Frown ).

Just a quick n00b question for those who understand "energy label" ...it says that its based on 5 hour use per day for a year.....So if i keep my TV on for 5 hours a day for a year, the cost will be $12 only? That kind of sounds unrealistic?

One way to avoid being screwed is not to sell to new ebay'ers or ones with no or low feedback.
Hi, I noticed that there were several people talking about Ebay and buying from them (or selling).

I've had a pretty crapy history with them over the past couple of years.

Buying: I pre-ordered Two of the Matrix Video games from a power seller who had
great reviews.
He went belly up, I lost my money. Ebay now no longer allows pre-ordering of video games.
Sellers were using the preorder money to buy in bulk and then fill the orders.
Unlike Amazon, the operating capital for sellers on Ebay is different.

Selling. I can't even begin to list all the issues I had with customers. None of them justified.

I do know someone who bought a jailbroken iphone. After they bought it they found out it was stolen goods. They tried very hard to return the phone (because the carrier would not give them service since it was listed as stolen). Nope, they lost their $$ - Seller closed account and nothing could be done.

Because Ebay has been a premier site to fence stolen goods, they have implemented
real crappy terms whereas they can freeze BOTH the buyer and sellers accounts if an
issue comes up. That means your bank account can be frozen, all funds stand still until issue is resolved.

Craigs list is the new place to fence stolen goods, along with a lot of other unseemly behavior.

So, selling it on Ebay or Craigslist - you take your chances.

Goodluck. Wish I had the room for such a big tv - I'd save the gift card for later. Dell always has nice stuff.

For those who have received their sets what version are they getting (it's written on the outside of the box)? According to this http://www.avsforum.com/t/1395734...hread/2250 some of the panels are made by Sharp instead of Samsung. The ones made by Samsung are version TS01 and TS02. The Sharp panels do NOT have "Clear motion" functionality and suffer from substantial motion blur.

Just got mine today. It's version AH03. It does have the "Auto Motion Plus" and "LED Motion Plus" settings in the menu. The default setting resulted in that "soap opera" quality, but turning it to "clear" seems to have fixed it. I haven't noticed any motion blur yet but I haven't had a chance to watch much on it yet...

I have the same panel. It's not A Sharp panel I believe , i ask on AVS forums,so we don't have to worry about the blue tint issues some have talked about. "Clear" seems to be the best setting if you want to use the 120hz, but I noticed some loss of detail, even with the clear setting, so I don't use the 120hz at all.

So, is anyone seeing any backlight bleeding or "flashlighting" in the corners with a black screen? I noticed this when pausing an all black screen (beginning of a movie credits sequence) in a nearly dark room. The bottom left corner was particularly bad, then the right corner, then the top ones, in order of decreasing severity. There were some other people on the AVS forums mentioning this too.

I'm just wondering whether I should bother trying to exchange it or if they are all like this. I could possibly get used to it (it is much less obvious when there's anything other than pure black in the corners, or there is some ambient light), but I am a little disappointed considering that my 5-6 year old Samsung 52" (model LN52A550P3FXZA) seemed to have better blacks and a way more uniform screen.
