I am tempted. I was going to get the XPS 13 Ultrabook outlet at $900 with coupon or the Sony Vaio T 13.3 new at $1000 or this one.
What do you guys think?
"I have a dream. We got a nightmare." "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan"."What is a low information voter?" For the first time in my life I am not proud of my adopted country. I am not Rush'ed into judgement.
I bought this exact laptop a month ago for $200 more (From Adorama too, not via their Ebay store). The laptop worked good out of the box, but it had some blemishes on the case, but after calling Dell and getting a case number, Adorama took the laptop back and gave me a brand new one. It was perfect, but basically, if anyone gets this, make sure to check it immediately after opening the box because Dell obviously had quality control issues with this model. At least exchange/replacement process wasn't too difficult.
With regards to the laptop, it is just over 4 lbs. Dell was definitely playing fast and loose using "ultrabook" in the description. The design could be a bit cleaner too, but is is okay. As a lot of plastic that can break I think. It only has one USB port, which it kinda odd. I know both will be obsolete in a few years, but I bought it because it has an optical drive and runs Windows 7 ( I despise Windows 8). It works great for editing pictures with Lightroom and Photoshop.
This is the predecessor to the 14z Dell offered on Black Friday for $299. They let orders go through and kept people in the dark, then cancelled orders the following Tuesday, after those buyers skipped other BF deals. Dell offered an Inspiron 15 with worse specs as a substitute - a $350 MRSP in its place.
I had one of those pending orders. I considered trying to get the newer 14z in it's place, and pay a little extra for it. But after reading the reviews, passed. I wouldn't have taken it as a direct swap - the reviews being so poor.
I own a Dell Studio HTPC tower (scratch n dent). It's been solid without issue, although it took me a few days to fix initial graphics issues that a rep in India couldn't over the phone. But after the BF experience - I've skipped over the Dell deals.
