I just wish Slickdealers would stop giving their attention to the FP mods just because they post a deal about an alright laptop. The specs are good, yes, but the screen resolution is terrible. These laptops are on deals for a reason. compare this resolution to a laptop's 1600x900 or 1920x1080 and you will be amazed. It's just not worth putting $700 into it when you can get a laptop for the same price with a better resolution and without a SSD.(which they over price in the laptop anyway, including the RAM.)
Also, Dell is a terrible company to go with and their computer components are sub-par, but more durable than HP.
- For a laptop with better res, no ssd, and less RAM (both of which we can upgrade ourselves)?
I grabbed a 15z about a month ago for someone and Dell is now replacing a fried motherboard. Unable to determine why it happened. My sister's Dell v13 had it's internal HD ribbon cable replaced because of a well known design flaw causing the cable to fail. It's currently shutting down and restarting and the Dell service tech has no clue. I grabbed a 14z during the last Dell deal for someone else and so far so good. I'm on the fence about grabbing one for myself (this deal) as I'm thinking Dell's attempt at "Ultrabooks" may be a total fail if you want something resonably "long lasting". Just my experience to date.
