Update 4-23-2013:

http://www.advancedstream.com/buyamodem

Credit goes out to raindoctor1 for finding this modem for a cheaper price of $49.95 +tax +shipping which brings the total to $59.95 from the same company. The previous link that I posted and bought from has been updated to include the disclaimer "*These modems are for Advanced Stream customers. You need to be an Advanced Stream customer to take advantage of this offer. There is no Motorola manufacturer warranty on this modem. We offer a 30 day warranty on the modem; but the warranty is from us directly, not from Motorola. If you have any issues within 30 days, we will replace the modem or issue you a full refund. These modems are brand new and virtually trouble free. If you need support or assistance with this item, you will need to contact us directly at 253-627-8000".

This new page that raindoctor1 has found has not been updated to include any disclaimers and checking out with paypal looks to be functional so it might be worth taking a shot and ordering. If worst comes to worse, Advanced Stream will probably refund you your money just like they refunded me when I tried to order the modem for $29.95

http://www.advancedstream.com/59modem

Yesterday it was mentioned in one of the SB6141 forums that it was possible to buy it for $29.95 but it said you had to be an Advanced Stream customer which is an internet service provider in Tacoma, Washington. Nevertheless, I thought maybe I should give it a shot even though I'm in California and I bought it but today I got a refund email with a note from merchant that said "We're sorry but we're unable to complete this purchase. The $29.95 modem is only available for our active customers only. The regular price for this modem is $59.95" so I bought that instead.

This is the cheapest price I've seen from a reputable merchant and even cheaper than ebay

My total came to $65.59 with free shipping

I didn't try it because I just purchased one for $67 shipped at eBay, but if it goes through, this is a very hot deal.

I find it strange they're charging tax for CA orders when they're a Washington based ISP.

Yea I understand that it might be less than $2 cheaper but more importantly you are buying from a merchant and not from ebay so your chances of Motorola honoring the warranty is very very likely given that Motorola gives a 1 year warranty on their modems.

Also, this is still the cheapest price ever on slickdeals I think

^^ What he said. They are an authorized seller, so you should be in better shape with Motorola, should there be a problem. Plus it is $2 cheaper. Smilie

Well, this won't help me much, if at all, on the slow 5Mb down and 1mb up service.

This must the same seller as ebay "amodems". I bought this modem from them last week and PayPal showed up as advancedstream.

Yes it is but this is better because you don't have to mess with best offer and it is cheaper than ebay

Also if you buy from their website and the modem stops working you can tell Motorola that you purchased it from an authorized seller and not from ebay so they have to honor their warranty

I have Cox Premier 25 Mbps / 2 Mbps with powerboost.

Should I upgrade to a D3 modem or stick with my DOCSIS 2.0?

Thanks in advance
