sold out again.....500+ have sold since I posted this on 4/18...
If you are interested, check this link every week or so. They might have more.

These are being sold direct from Black & Decker from near Charlotte.
B&D has 99.8% positive feedback on ebay and they sell a LOT of refurbs of all kinds of different items.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI....186wt_1167

I have been wanting one of these. Did a search and saw the older model rerurbs once sold for $36.99 but that was months ago.

Put it on my ebay watch list at $58.99 hoping to catch them when they went on sale again and it only took a week or so.

Noticed they dropped the price down to $39.99 and I couldnt resist..

This is the EH1000R. The LE750R seems to be almost identical.
The EH1000 is the upgraded version of the LE750 since it has a more powerful motor. 12 amp versus 11 amp, otherwise identical.

Similar units brand new run $89 at Walmart & Lowes. I think I saw them on sale for $69.99 at Sears. WMT & Sears have the old model, Lowes the new one.

Black & Decker is charging sales tax in most states. so it was $42.39 for me. (I got 80 cents in ebay bucks which makes it $41.59) If you pay with a credit card they may extend the warranty which is 2 years from the factory even though its a refurb.

They had 141 remaining when I bought mine. 59 sold, 52 of them at $58.99 and then the rest sold out. A day or two later they re-listed more. Those 200 sold out and a few days later they listed more.

Putting it together was easy. Does what its supposed to. My long neglected lawn looks MUCH better.

Has some balance issues in that mine wont stay upright unless Im holding it when the cord is attached. (A minor pain) Perhaps because I extended the handle as far as possible because I am very tall.
My edging was neglected for so long that using the trench setting made it easier.

From Black & Decker customer service :The two edgers are almost identical in features with the exception of the Amps as you noted. Both the LE750 and EH1000 has a 7-1/2" hardened steel blade with tool free assembly, a depth adjustment of 1", 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" and weight 12.4 lbs. The EH1000 is the upgraded version of the LE750 since it has a more powerful motor.

Here is a link to a previous front page deal, a very similar model $58 brand new.

The $39.99 price point sure is more palatable to this tightwad. And you get 2% in ebay bucks.

Found the exact same unit at Lowes for $89.00. 18 reviews,17 happy customers .13 5 stars, 4 4 stars and 1 2 star.

Comparisions of the 2 models are nearly identical....This is the 12 amp versus 11amp.

Exclusive pull-up edge guide converts from edger to landscape trencher
Three-position blade depth adjustment lets you control the cut
Built-in cord retention keeps extension cord secure
Tool-free assembly is quick and hassle-free

I don't think it matters for an edger as they don't require to be powerful.

I hate the tax too. But from everything Ive been reading, its just a matter of time before ALL internet purchases are taxed. Even Amazon supports it now.

And its just 6% for me versus 10% locally.

127 left. They are selling a LOT faster now that they are marked down.

At first, I thought, how did they have 200 refurbs ?

Then I realized that Lowes has 1754 stores. So 200, isnt very many really.

Not sure if these were returns that Lowes shipped back one store at a time to their warehouse & then black & decker picked up or what.

I do know that retailers like Lowes & Walmart, when returns are made, the manufacturer gets debited for the cost of the item. Automatically.

I was hoping mine shipped yesterday but it didnt. Maybe Monday. Anxious to use it. My lawn really needs it.

Good price. Picked one up, thanks. Black and decker has over 99 percent feedback, so refurb should be fine.

Only 100 left !

LOL

They were barely selling 1-2 a day at $58.99, now they are selling about 20 a day.

Thats what economists call price/demand elasticity or something like that.

Great edger. Have had one (mine was a refurb, too) for 2 seasons now and it's worked great for me. Plenty of power to get through thick stuff and even clods of mud that have lapped over the edge of my driveway.

It's honestly hard to mess up. If you haven't edged your yard in years, just tilt the edger back when you start and ease down into the 'groove' you're going to create. Not much to it. The worst you can really do without trying hard is mess up the blade, which you can get new for around $7 or so.

Thanks. I know I dont want to bang the blade against the concrete so I wanted to avoid that. Just dont know how easy that happens.

Im anxious to use it. Mine should be here late Wed.

Is the blade something that needs to be changed every so often even if you dont damage it ?

63 remaining.
