I just want to say I bought this 3 years ago....$119

I had replaced the battery's 2 times because they failed and would not recharge.

The power from both are nice

DO NOT RUN THE BATTERY'S FULLY OUT....IF THEY GET WEAK RECHARGE!

Got this set a little over a year ago. Still kicking strong! First weed eater my wife ever felt comfortable using, too. Like any lithium batteries, treat them right. Lithium's should be stored at around 25% to 50% capacity when not in use in a mildy cool place (ie, inside your house, not in a garage or shed in the summer or winter).

What's small? What type of winds do you have during leaf clean up?
Depending where you are at leafs can be a pain

No winds during leaf cleanup. Small is like....2500 sq ft. Leaves are a pain under the roses / behind plants. I do garden a little.

I got the string trimmer a year ago for about $80 with lithium battery. I was looking for a trimmer where I didn't have to fool with mixing gas anymore. After using a regular gas powered weed eater for years using one of these was pretty disappointing. I keep using the gas weed eater. It seemed weak. It would be pretty handy if you have a very small yard (1/3 acre or less like someone else said) but anything bigger and I think you would be frustrated. I don't know anything about the blower. Seems like a pretty good deal since you get a lithium battery with it. Thumbs up.

true comparison against a gas unit. however, after a half dozen cheap gas units that all refused to start after a few years i gave up on gas and switched battery powered. i had a craftsman unit which sucked so i returned it and got this ryobi kit and it fits my needs (I only have a small amount of trimming to do). i use the blower all the time. i really like the light weight of these units compared to gas ones. the free battery makes this a real deal.
