All this talk about lanterns with D batteries. WTH? Who wants to use D batteries now a days?
This one with 4 AA batteries is perfect! Those made with 3 AA batteries are also annoying as no one sells 3 AA batteries. They're either sold in packs of 2s or 4s.
4 batteries is more than 3- you can buy a pack of 4 and only use 3 of them!
Finally picked my up from REI and glad I got this, very nice and weather proof!
Might be interested in finding the rechargeable battery but for $30 that's INSANE. Honestly though, looking at the website it just looks like a phone NiMH battery. http://www.blackdiamondequipment....attery-kit
Basically an el cheapo item you can find on ebay. You just have to figure out the ratings on the wall charger and the size of the plug. Anyone do this?
EDIT: Yeah forget that. I'm looking at the mAh ratings on the ebay packs, which are only like $4 shipped and they are low. 1200 mAh was the absolute highest I saw with around 700/800 being normal. So you'd be better off using rechargeable AA's in terms of overall longevity.
