Thread Details

This is the same price as the regular 14 gal vac but includes the car kit with the better hose. The kit alone retails for $39.97.

Car Detailing kit kink (for price comparison) [homedepot.com]

Lifetime warranty as always.

I sweetened the deal by using a 20% off Harbor Freight coupon [harborfreight.com].

Thanks much... in for one... Seems like a solid deal (since i love detailing my cars) even though i couldn't get the coupon to work... They said i "needed to be able to buy the exact same product at Harbor Freight" and they obviously don't carry Rigid vacs. (In MN)

Now i just need to figure out what to do with my old shop vac that the motor crapped out on... any ideas? Wonder if the garbage man will take it.

Well I just opened the box and this thing is real beauty. I think as shop vacs go this is the one to get! 6HP is NICE. The suction power is awesome. It has a drain at the bottom for emptying out water which I would think would be extremely useful. Also IMO this is the hose they should include with all of their vacs. It's longer, much more flexible and durable, much, much easier to use….and it looks cool. Love all the attachments! Just in time for our basement remodel and summer car washes.

A very satisfying purchase even if you didn't get the coupon to work Smilie

Thanks again OP. (Already repped)

The ridgid vacs are much better than the blue ones from lowes.
Care to elaborate? $30 vs $85 is a lot of money. I take the suction power is the same for both. For the Blue Shop Vac, you can increase suction power by opening up the cap at the top back (air outlet) to minimize outlet air restriction. Quite noticeable increase in suction power.

I have a flooring company which uses shop vacs daily. The Lowes shop vacs don't last, don't suck as well and are usaully louder, even louder with the cap off. I have yet to have one ridgid vac go bad on me and they have a better warranty. From hands on experience the ridgids vacs are better without a doubt. If you want to wait til black friday, they have ridgid on sale then too. Just my .02 If you use a shop vac every once in a while I'm sure you will be fine, but if you put the two to the test ridgid blows lowes away.

This specific package is sold out most places, but still shows up online [homedepot.com]. The web site says it's OOS online and that limited quantities are available in stores, must purchase in store.

At the B&M Home Depot stores:

Vacuum alone [homedepot.com] = $99
Auto detail kit alone [homedepot.com] (separate box) = $39.97

Since it still shows up on their web site combined [homedepot.com] for $99 and says must purchase in store, I got them to match it in store by subtracting the $39.97 off the total price. I got the guy to pull the web site up in store and he bundled the 2 together for me for $99.

HF 20% off coupon is still good through 7/31/13, so you can get the whole deal for $80 still. The employees will resist, but when you get the manager involved they realize it's legitimate. I did not get them to take 20% off the whole order, though, as others did b/c the coupon says "20% off one item". Only off the vaccuum, but it's still $20 off. Not a bad deal, and still active.

This is when the old adage of, "it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission" would work nicely. I have 3 Ridgid Vac's and really want to pull the trigger. What the wife doesn't know won't kill me.
