Roku doesn'make a red Roku 3 and it was definitely a 2......I know because I bought one of the red Roku 2 XS' that were on clearance last week.
At the Target in which i have found these deals, the Roku & Roku 2 are in BLUE and GREEN boxes. The Roku 3 (which does exist) comes in a RED BOX.

Extreme YMMV? Yes, that's why i never made a huge deal over it or another page for it.
Does a Roku 3 exist? YES
Does it come in a RED BOX at Target? YES
Did MY Target have one on clearance for $49.99? YES
Did you guys walk into the store? NO

These trolls that don't even bother walking into the store and proceed to tell me what I saw/didn't see is mind numbing...

Roku 2 XS is red as Roku 3, which just came out on Target shelves about a week ago. The red box you saw on clearance was the Roku 2 XS.
*Shakes head* Target has 3 versions of the Roku in store, each one a different color. The Roku 2 XS is NOT SOLD IN STORES.

Green and Blue are 1 & 2, Red is for Roku 3

Next time please walk into the store before discrediting me.

You could see an Alien in the sky. I never disputed that fact. But I know Target sold Roku 2 XS (note the past tense, meaning no longer true since it was last clearanced at 50% last Monday and most stores already sold out). I hide 3 of three in hope the item will reach 70% level this week.

I also bought one RED Roku 2 XS one week before last, when the price was at $69.98 (30% clearance level). I would eventually return it but need it now so my kid can watch Netflix with close caption. The TV offers no CC on its Smart content.

Once again, Target would NEVER put a brand new released (for its store) Roku 3 (red color box just like the Roku 2 XS) on clearance. The Roku 3 didn't even start showing up on Target shelves til last Tuesday! Your store made a single one-time mistake and you come in here screaming about it! The chance someone else will see the same thing like you did is a big fat ZERO.

Just because you SAW something happened doesn't mean it will again for the rest of us.

Who's the moron now?

PS> I challenge anyone in here, SD, find me a Roku 3 with a clearance tag (at any level) on it! I'll pay you its full price plus $20 for your trouble! Whatever color I don't care, make sure it's a Roku 3!

I confessed with my Priest this past weekend about my sin but he told me it was OK since he hid 4 himself! Guess I don't need to torture myself for my crime/sin!

BTW, I taught my kid well "Don't take chance ( waiting for clearance items to reach my desire level) in life. Go and prepare yourself well for what you WANT." And mind you, my kid has had many toys from Target at bargain price, legally. I've seen plenty of open boxes at Target with missing inside contents (some cheap bags decided to shoplift instead).

Actually, it was on the shelves Sunday. The tag was available Monday. For the record, I didn't "come in here screaming about a deal", I mentioned that "hey, mistakes have been made, there are other deals out there - keep your eyes open". It's how I found the TV deals in the first place (last time I create a post like this in a while). If i'm not mistaken, you trolled through the comments, found something I mentioned, and took the effort to make discrediting comments.

Try assuming positive intent. For instance, I assume you have trouble spelling (id est "I hide 3 of three in hope..") because you're angry, and that it has nothing to do with the fact you are an idiot. Everyone knows that an angry dog is a hungry dog, so calm down and grab a bite to eat.

FYI Roku 2 XS - Refurbished w/1-year warranty $69.95 - No Tax - Free Shipping [amazon.com]
Same New - Red Receiver $77.75 [amazon.com]
Factory Refurbished $59.99 [bensoutlet.com]

The Samsung 51 inch plasma had me intrigued until I saw it's 720p. That has me extremely worried, but anyone grabbing that for 300-400 dollars is probably doing themselves a real solid regardless.

The native resolution on the 51" Samsung is 1024 x 768. To put that in perspective, the resolution of the Galaxy S3 is 1280 x 720 -- 135,000 more pixels (17%) in a smaller form factor. I can't imagine the resolution's aspect ratio being 4:3 helps the TV's picture quality any.

720p for TVs that large should really be inexcusable at this point.

Anyways, I grabbed the floor model of the 47" LG for about $300 with tax out the door, all accessories (glasses, stand, remote, documentation, etc.) all accounted for and unopened. Cashier was awesome, gave a large discount, and helped me get it to the car. Way beyond what I usually expect from Target.

EDIT: More maths. A 1080p TV, assuming the standard 1920 x 1080 resolution, has 2,073,600 pixels, or 1,287,168 more pixels than 1024 x 768. That's 164% more pixels.

720p, 1080p, 4k does it really matter? [carltonbale.com]

For most a TV sized 50 to 51" and smaller, sitting at a normal viewing distance @ 720p are fine.

I Can't wait till 8k comes out... its hard enough for 4K being a justified purchase for any size tv less 80" right now.
