The XPS 14 ultrabook (aka l421x) is upgradable to 8GB with a single dimm and also will support any 7mm 2.5" SSD to replace the slow hard drive, video is in this post.

Tip: You're better off using Dell Chat versus refreshing the website over and over. For example, thanks to the Chat Rep, I was able to lock an XPS 8500 (Core i7-3770, 1TB 7200RPM HDD, 8GB DDR3, Radeon HD 7570) for $471 (after coupon before taxes). I never found anything remotely close to that online after refreshing the webpage for hours.

Tip: Check your order after you complete it - if you have accidental damage coverage (~$49) and/or Premium Phone Support (~$70) you can request a refund for those via chat or phone after the item ships. You still have a basic hardware warranty against defects/failures - these just cover accidental damage and antivirus/phone support if you have software issues. Note numbers immediately above are for XPS 8500 desktops; XPS laptops are less, and non-XPS machines are even less money 'back' to you. This number, refunded to you, is not taxable; you'll get the simple amount.

Lots of people like to repeat what they've read or what they think is better. I have put Windows 8 machines in many places and actually prefer it. Take 10 mins to learn the small learning curve, then decide. I have put it in for advanced age users who I feared would be upset at a drastic change, and ended up thoroughly enjoying the UI, etc. I say try it.

you will need to figure out how much voltage that vid card requires and see if the insp 660 has a power supply that can support it. I believe last I checked the 660 only had a 240 - 260w psu. You can always buy a 500w psu for $50 if u need it

the main concern is will existing software / games have any issues on win 8? Most people don't want to deal with the unknown and hassle, thus preferring win7

It has a 300W power supply. I have a spare 580W PSU, that is not the issue. I guess my concern was if a large (in physical size), double slotted video card would have trouble fitting in the case.

Thanks for your reply!
