Can you share how you loaded Win7? I'm installing an SSD this weekend and haven't thought through the OS installation.
first try installing w7 from the usb, but since they are usb 3.0 ports, the bios may not load the drivers during bootup. if it doesnt work load the Windows 7 installation package on a 5 GB partition on your new SSD, then install in to the other partition. the disadvantage of this is everytime you startup, the bios asks if you want to boot up to the windows 7 install or to the OS since i was able to remerge the partions (since you can mess with the partition that your OS is currently running on). its a minor inconvenience.

heres a guide to help: http://forum.notebookreview.com/a...b-ssd.html

Whats the cheapest thing out there with the Geforce card ... I cant believe this is basically over 1g because of the graphics card ... Looking for something around 700 to 850.

I'd sit tight and wait for this to show up as a refurb imo.

The cheapest "thing"? There are plenty of cheaper laptops with Nvidia graphics cards, they just aren't ultrabooks. If you're looking for something premium then you'll have to pay a premium price. If you want budget devices then this isn't what you're looking for.

I of-course meant... what was the cheapest ultra-book that still features the geforce ... I'm willing to shell out 800 to 850 for one ... just not anything more than that ?

You know what happeneds when you assume midnightblade ? You make an ass out of u and me.

Yep. This is a seriously badass Ultrabook, the one I was looking at closely but waiting for the price to come down from the stratosphere. Now we're too soon to Intel's next chipset, but alas, if you're anxious, this is The One -- at its lowest price ever.

You can replace the non-soldered DRAM stick with 8gb to boost up to 10gb. Unusually for an Ultrabook, this also has Nvidia hardware GPU acceleration.

Asus keeps refusing to fix their trackpads, so that the left-click at the bottom left where it meets the trackpad frame simply never works. It might bother you enough to regret this purchase.
I own this computer and have never had the issue you're describing with the left click. Maybe yours is defective?

Thanks for asking. Are you sure you are clicking down physically, right at the bottom-left-most region of the trackpad so that your thumb is pivoting on the chassis opening for the trackpad. That where my thumb intuitively always went anyway, and I've gone through two of these machines finding that it's a design defect, not just individual cases.

Huh, surprising. I just tried it and had no issues. But based on some of the reviews on Amazon that I looked at, this model does seem to have an inconsistent build quality. I'm just happy that I've never had any problems with mine.

Waiting long enough ... its 1049.00 with free 7 to 10 day shipping ... oh and no tax ... would of been 1132.92 if it had tax. That's 83 dollars that i can put towards a ram stick or ssd drive.

Honestly the backlit keyboard + 1 gb discrete card + 1080p IPS screen + upgradeable ram and hd + no tax kills it and im pulling the trigger.

Just to give an idea on how much the price of this laptop has gone down. The ASUS Zenbook UX32VD-DB71 (Windows 7 version) but the specs are the same as this one (except Winodws 8). That's the only difference between the 2 models I think.

The UX32VD-DB71 was $1300 (Newegg) back in June 2012. So between June 2012 and now this laptop has dropped $250.

I would of preferred the Windows 7 edition to the 8 but the cheapest I can find one online under 1k is for a used one. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/c...=800942245

This is a deal guys ... no ifs ands or buts about it. Just pretend that its under $1000 and that with tax it came out to 1050 with FREE SHIPPING and its not a refurb or used. That gives me peace of mind ... I don't know about you.

That is of course dreadfully and depressingly slow. How did the technology sector get so sluggish?
