i've read many things on the support wings system. It's either do or die situation. Some raves about it.. some hate it... personally i find it a bit interesting. the cans fit sturdy on my head and it stays on pretty good... it's only the clamping force that makes the damn thing near impossible to wear for long period of time. any tips on how to stretch these to reduce clamping force???
There is no clamping force with the wing system, as there is nothing clamping on your head. The headband rests on your head.

If you can somehow reinforce the wings so that they stay on your head properly you won't have this issue. Maybe try using a rubber band?

The force comes from the wings, since they don't provide enough stability on your head the headphones exert a downward force.

it's not the wings... in fact the wings don't do sh*t... it's the forces from the two wires that connect the cans... the wings got nothing to do with any thing except for suspending the cans properly on your head (supposedly). the cans stay where they suppose to on my head.. but the skull crushing force created by the wires headband is what i'm talking about

How do these compare to the FISCHER FA-003 / BRAINWAVZ HM5??
i have both fa003, ath ad900 and ath a900x.
the FA-003 is more neutral, soundstage is also good but not as good as a900x < ad900. IMO it is good can but the lack of mid bass and hollow mid (due to the cup which like a tube) make it a little boring.
the audio technica a900x/ad900 are much much better on the high.
built quality is about the same. FA-003 is heavier but more comfortable

Hey sweetlol,

900X vs. M50

I first purchased the 900X and was blown away, but my BFF took them away for a month (she really likes em, so she can keep it) so I purchased the M50s for myself. I gotta say...I'm a little disappointed. This is my experience.

I'm not an audiophile, but I do appreciate music of all sorts. Main music I listen to: EDM, Slow deep baby makin' music, pop.

900X- Very crisp, I really wasn't understanding what people meant by mids / highs before, but I do now. It's like clearing the earwax outta your canals and hearing right for the first time. No joke. It's also like using Digital audio connection vs the 3.5 mm plug. Great stuff. Solid bass. Portability? Hah, I stuff these in a fricken duffel bag they're so damn big. I hate this part. Made in Japan.

M50- When I first got these, wow I was really sad. The mids highs were totally not vibrant, the lows are fantastic though! I'd say it's a small step better than 900X in the lows category. After 10+ hours of use, the mids-highs did come alive a lot more, but not near the 900X. Portability is MUCH better with these headphones. I don't feel like a doofus when I'm using them either. Comes with a pouch. They aren't super portable either, but definitely better than 900X. Made in Taiwan (if that matters to you)

I purchased my M50s from amazon, so the price is comparable to this sale price. If you are going for the M50s, I advise that you never listen to a pair of 900Xs and enjoy you M50s. You will be happiest this way.

OH, and I forgot to add that I'm purchasing these headphones and returning the M50s. The M50s are good though! You will like them a lot I swear. Smilie
Wow, thanks for the feedback! worship

Great article. However, unless I'm missing it (entirely possible), there's zero mention of the 'phones in the OP. He talks about the ATH-AD900, but those are pretty different.
i was talking about the ad900 too Big Grin

Ok. Given that you didn't specify in your post, and that the deal here is for the 900X...well, forgive me for not picking up on that.

I did, lol. I managed to sell my HM5 several days later for $125 on eBay. Just get the A900X already, there is a very noticeable difference without amp/dac.

Do you have a soft skull? Stick Out Tongue

I have never experience that issue before, you could try tapping foam to the headband where it makes contact with your head.

Bought one though with V.me checkout, but did not receive an invoice or anything from Buydig and V.me. I only see a transaction pending in my V.me transaction history. Anyone else have this problem?

As others suggested, bend pillow and leave them on for a whole night.

received my audio technicas. Like the way they sound, but are very uncomfortable on my head. They seem weirdly tailored for large heads with small ears, and I only fit the large head profile. While they fit on my head nicely, don't slide off like littleheads claim, my ears aren't nearly the right side to fit into the cups so that the top and bottom on my ears are being pressed by the cups and I'm constantly trying to adjust them so my ears don't hurt. This might not bother other people, or some might even prefer it, but after being used to sennheiser hd280 and hd598, both which cup my whole ear and are more of an oval shaped pads then circle shaped like these closed audio technicas. But my hd280s are about ready to fall apart, and rather then buying replacement earpads and headband, I've decided to find myself a new pair of closed headphones, and thought I'd try something outside my usual Sennheiser fanboyism, but these don't seem to be cutting it.

so does anyone know how buydigs return policy is?

I just received mine today. I also have a fairly large cranium. I wear a XXL size motorcycle helmet if that tells you anything. I also have decently large ears... While my ears don't fit without touching on any sides, they don't seem to be causing much discomfort. So far I think they could be comfortable for extended periods, but you never know. What feels fine for 30 minutes can be a whole different story at 1-2 or 4 hours. The design is different, I'm used to having the headphones squeeze around my head but these just kind of sit on top of it with the little wings on my head. Sometimes it feels like maybe they could be held more stiffly in place. Sound is great so far.

I did just receive these as well. Ran this test on them - http://www.audiocheck.net/soundte...phones.php

I feel like the bass shaker under "Quality" creates quite a lot of rattling. Do anyone else's headphones do this? Not sure if I'll ever listen to anything with such a low frequency, but if others don't experience this I will think about exchanging them.
