Thanks. Judging by google search, they seem to fold flat, but i dont think they fold "in" Like the SJ11 or the M50's

I will look into more monoprice cans though, thanks for the tip

edit: On second thought, I did find a pic of the 8323 folding "in"
Just out of curiosity I looked into it more and found out this introductory video Linky [youtube.com]. At 0:42, looks like these fold inwards.

I own the ATH-AD700s and they are BY FAR THE MOST COMFORTABLE cans I've EVER used! Sound quality is superb Smilie Just not too bassy b/c I got the open-air, which I prefer not to blow my ear drums.

What do you think those will run $?
They were $99 last sale.

I'll warn you all ahead of time, I've owned the A900, AD900, AD900X. You would really be better off with the A900X if you like anything other than jazz/classical/instrumental.

The AD900 is not anemic like the AD700 when it comes to bass and lows, however there is so little presence.

The A900X works with more genres, however I don't find the wing design sturdy nor the pads as comfortable as the AD900X.

I don't think the open design is for everyone, its really a niche type of headphone. The A900X is a safer bet for most.

I'm in the market for an open headphone in the $100-300 range and I've read pretty good things about these. If you want closed, I recommend one of the modded T50RP that are going for anywhere between $150-300 depending on what kinds of mods you want done.

For open headphones, these seem to be an outstanding value at their going prices. The next step up without spending a ton more is for some Beyerdynamic 880s.

There's a good review here of many headphones (though just one person's opinion): http://www.head-fi.org/t/634201/b...ed-4-14-13

The AD900x appear to be a newer model with some improvements but I believe they're quite a bit more at this point. That version has more bass and I believe is angled differently.
I purchased mine for $170 on Amazon.co.jp, including insurance and EMS shipping

A900X gives a greater bass response/extension/impact and sturdier wings, the pads aren't as plush either. This makes a better fitting headphone and an all round better experience, not to mention that they look sexy Big Grin

I have a pair of ATH-900 and love them. For reference I have owned everything from Sennheiser HD 600 and 650, Grado SR60/80/325/MS2, Beyerdynamic DT770pro/DT880 with tube and solid state amps. I have sold them all and keep only the ATH900. The Sennheiser is a little more comfortable to me for extended listen time. The ATH900 is only slightly slower and muddy compare to the Grado MS2 but look at the price difference. Its faster than the Sennheiser 600/650 while still retain the great midrange/vocals. These are not for bass head but there is more than enough bass response for your dance/techno/hip hop (which i have been listening to most lately). Added bonus is these can be powered without an amp and therefor easy to just grab and go.

How do they stack up to the Beyers?

Pretty much the best sound stage that a reasonable amount of money can buy. INCREDIBLE for gaming. Throw your "gamer xtreme" headset in the frickin' garbage and don't look back (let's face it, your gamer headset was going to fray and short out in 4 months anyways). If audio cues, positioning, and accuracy are important to you, you cannot do better.

Of course they are also incredible for music and movies, but from a gamer's point of view these are pretty much the pinnacle of headphone sound stage.

I bought the A900X a little while back and they are awesome, better than the A700 I used to have. Very good deal at this price - balanced, neutral and natural sound. Next up is the Sennheiser 650 (ouch @ price).

Very good deal. I bought the ATH-A900X fro $130 a while back and am very pleased. I do find the bass to be somewhat lacking in some genres of music, but its not a big deal. Mids and highs are amazing.

The impedance on these is low, so you don't need an amp if using them with an ipod/phone/whatever. I've paired mine with O2 and ODAC stack though, as plugging straight into my phone was too quiet for me. Now im in the process of replacing all my music with 320kbs, as the 128 most of library consisted of sounds incredibly distorted.

I really would like to try these for a work rig. I'm a Grado fanboy.. that's a fact. Do you know if the A900X leaks a TON of sound like Grados? I can deal with some leakage since my volume level isnt very high at work. Thoughts? For background, i use igrado's and ksc75's at work and my home rig is a schiit bifrost -> Mapletree Ear purist HD -> Vintage Grado RS-1's

The A900X is closed, it won't leak sound. Warning to a Grado fanboy, you might be jarred by the presence of soundstage on these headphones. Big Grin
