wow...$900....can't you buy one for $300 in costco?

This is 3x the price...but it's 720HD though which is rare.

That is not the same item. The Costco package only includes a 4-channel NVR. This includes an 8-channel NVR, which will allow you to add 4 additional cameras later if you want. Still, not a great deal, as this package is $699 at Amazon right now (though currently OOS). That is a great deal if you can wait.

If you can wait a couple more years, Costco will have HD 8 Ch NVRs for 299.99. Stick Out Tongue
Seriously though. I already have a DVR system, it will likely work for another few years. Once that dies, I'll upgrade to an HD one, and hopefully by that time these will be very affordable.

Will the Costco HD 8ch Lorex system be in store also or online only? Not a costco member but have a Gift Card from an old DirecTV offer that I'm able to use in the store even though I'm not a member. Thanks.

Sorry gotta agree...

you have a system that support 720p and 8 channels but can only record 30sec for 4 cameras... or 15 sec for 8.

the cameras are prob crap and the 100ft range is a joke. try 20-30 ft range.

You are incorrect. The camera quality is quite good and, as the cameras are wired using CAT5, they will work at 100ft just fine. Your statements about recording time limits is also incorrect. BTW, these are rebranded Dahua cameras and NVR, which are well thought of for budget systems.

This is that system

http://www.lorextechnology.com/Se...od360017.p

and it is literally the same exact system that costco had last week except it was a swann

http://www.swann.com/s/products/v...oduct=1541

The cameras are hikvision cameras 3.0mp swann has them limited at 2.1 though

Would it be cheaper to simply get another system if you wanted 8 cameras vs. finding/buying 4 additional of the Lorex cameras? I like the lorex Costco deal. Hard for me to believe 30FPS @ 1080p on each channel? I thought those kinds of systems are in the $5K plus range. Usually the boxes I've seen are like 120FPS total then you divide that by 8 cameras and get 15FPS per. Still new and learning all this though.
