The NewEgg sale for the Crucial Ballistix will come back for < $80 amd I would hold out for that.
Yup, I posted that deal a few weeks ago, and the sticks have been running great since. The deal lasted almost a day, but didn't get much attention because the extra 10% off (making it $76.49) was for those that recently shopped at newegg. It was $84.99 otherwise, which is still a good price imo, but got knocked down because A) reliability questions (which weren't a problem for me, plus the sticks also have lifetime warranty) and B) people not knowing the current state of RAM prices (thus comparing to the rock bottom end of 2012 sales).
That particular set usually goes on a Shell Shocker deal. I'd recommend it from my personal experience. Good timings, and just run a length of memtest when you get them to be sure if there are any problems.
It's funny to see on the eBay page: "More than 10 available" / "6 sold" but the listing ended. As noted before, probably a pricing error that the seller didn't want.
OnSale has been around this the mid 90s and since it has managed to stick around for so long, I guess their business must be doing OK. Note OnSale was more popular before fleabay took over in the late 90s.
I bought a Kenwood Receiver from them and it lasted me about 10years. Disappointed it broke after that since I paid close to $600 on the Receiver. But 10 years for a refurbished is not bad.
The NewEgg sale for the Crucial Ballistix will come back for < $80 amd I would hold out for that. With DDR4 no where in sight, production for DDR3 will increase this year and prices will drop somewhat, not sure how much.
