Watch the 4:55 part of the video and can judge for yourself on the screen quality.

http://slickdeals.net/?sdtid=5999524&sdfpid=94280&sdpid=59197722&sdfid=9&lno=1&trd=http+www+youtube+com+watch+v+VHp&u2=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DVHpW4FMiqlU

Fun things to do with the buttons:
Soft reboot -> Vol+ and Vol-, press and hold together for 10sec
Screen Shot -> At the Same time Press Power,Vol+ and Vol-
Recovery options and tools -> When the tablet is off, press and hold the Vol- then also press and hold the Power button until the screen comes on,goes off then comes back on again. Then hit Vol+ to get to the menu
(Vol buttons may change function depending on tablet orientation, the recovery option above was done with the speaker on the top & buttons on the right)

Compatible with the Square credit card reader? Yes!

ROOT:
READ EVERYTHING BEFORE PICKING UP YOUR TABLET. YOU BOUGHT IT, ITS UP TO YOU NOT TO BREAK IT.
Google is your friend if you want to know why to root.

1: Drivers.
The PANTECH drivers are available from their website. Just install the PC suite. It's actually a handy tool and better than samsungs Kies, which I can't get to work anywhere.

2. This blog is a little confusing but read the comment by Josh_Phy for what is almost a 1 click root. Download the dropbox file, unzip it and click the batch file.
http://pantechburst.blogspot.com/...ement.html

This info is also in the Rootzwiki thread: Look at post 157
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/22981-...try1048482

You must read the whole thread. ICS info is new. The first post won't help as those instructions are for GB. Please read and become part of the community. A word of warning: Spoonfeeding is not encouraged or rewarded; be polite and respectful to people who put their time in to fully exploit the potential of these devices.

3. Titanium Backup: Buy it. This is the single most useful app in the entire marketplace. It slices, dices, chops, Juliannes, and does so much to Android that the OS wonders where it has been all its life. Once installed, back up EVERYTHING, upload it somewhere so you'll have a safe backup.
3a. Freeze bloatwear and if after a week or so, you don't notice any problem, then delete it.
3b. As you delete bloatwear, please update this wiki with what's safe and what isn't.

4. Custom Recovery (TWRP) for ICS is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/s...p=41235707 Follow the instructions.

5. Apps2SD available in the Android store for FREE. I (mavblues) use the one by Gregory House. Works fine - however, it appears to move the apps to the media partition of the internal SD, as opposed to the external SD. However, it's still useful to free up lots of space to add more apps.

If you can't root, I'll try to help, but you must learn to fish, rather than having the fish thrown to you.

POST-ROOT ESSENTIALS: (fill in below)

SuperUser (gives full 'admin' access to other apps) https://play.google.com/store/app...user&hl=en
AdAway (Taken off Google Play Market, but this blocks the ad servers that show little banners in free versions of games, etc) Follow download link in first post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/s...?t=2190753

You have to adjust your APN: http://forum.melbia.com/lycamobil...-t251.html

There's tons of info in the prior deal.

According to the FCC documentation the tablet has 1700 MHz LTE support (AWS), so it can potentially work for T-Mobile LTE once sim unlocked: https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/re...d=JYCP4100

Do you have to get a data plan with this tablet to use it? How does it compare with the nexus 7? thanks!

Nope.. you don;t ned a data plan if you just use it on WiFi. You only need a data plan if you want to use it on $G from AT&T. then it's $15 to$60 a month depending on toal data you use for a month.

I have a couple silly questions please?

I want to get one for my wife.

1.) What is this PayDeals site? I can't seem to create an account. Keeps asking me to confirm password which I entered correctly 8 times. Also, do I need a "Referral Cod" or Email? It asks for one when trying to set up an account.

2.) Who is the vendor actually selling this Pantech Element and what if I need to return it?

Thanks you...

paydeals seems to be one of the many daily deal websites out there. they try to differentiate themselves by doing a referral system where if you get your friends to buy a product, you get a little kickback. i've bought only once from the site and had a good experience. I don't remember creating an account, i think i just used the paypal option. w/ sites like these, it's usually safer to use paypal. if it forces you to create an account, try using a different email and go through the whole account creation process.

I think paydeals is the vendor for this sale. Here's what they say about returns:

Returns & Replacements
PayDeals brings you amazing deals that are not always available and can be limited in quantities. Therefore we are unable to accept returns for refunds or replacements.
However, we back our product 100% and if there is any issues whatsoever, we are gonna do our best to resolve them.
So if your item is incorrect or defective you may return the item for an replacement, if the item is unavailable you will receive a store credit or refund. All incorrect and defective items must be returned within 21 days of receiving the product.

also, it does not seem like this comes with a legit warranty, since 1) the product description does not say that Pantech will provide a warranty, and 2) the T&C in paydeals seems to suggest that they do not offer warranties outside of that 21 days of returns that you see above.

most of the time, gadgets like these go this cheap b/c they are usually without warranties (or are out of date). while this is a pretty good deal in terms of the price, if you are not willing to take a gamble (ie don't have a lot of experience w/ purchasing from daily deal sites like these where expectations should be very much lowered compared to other sites), then you will do better looking elsewhere.
