Deal Details

Sears has the new sharp LE650U 70" LED TV on sale for $1699, which is a pretty good deal considering that many people went hunting for last year's model for only $100 less.

Delivery is free, additional $35 coupon code SEARS35OFF300AFFILIATEDEALS does not deduct online, but I don't see any exclusions that would prevent you from applying it over the phone... YMMV on that though Wink

Make sure you go to checkout (after the sign in page) to see the $1699 price.

Just make sure you guys get the extended warranty. I have nothing but problems with my Aquos 60" LED from Sharp. I bought it on Aug 2011 and had problems just months after buying it. The problem is Sharp doesn't have a 3rd party to fix my TV in NJ. They had to get someone from Brooklyn NY. Problem is the 3rd party never showed up to fix my TV on two appointments and then tells me they refuse to go to my house since it's too far. The problem has gotten worse and I call Sharp again and now they refuse to even warranty it since it passed the warranty.

I had to get my lawyer to write a letter to them about the issues and force them to fix the tv as is explained in their warranty coverage. It was a registered letter and they had 10 days to respond to the letter....would you believe Sharp didn't even bother responding?

My lawyer says she is no stranger to Sharp and how they treat customers. Sharp simply doesn't care. You must hound them to get service. You must continue to call them for updates on service. They will never call you. Ever. If you open a case with them and it doesn't get resolved, they will never call you.

I have a $1500 POS on my wall and Sharp doesn't care.
Funny how all this writing yet you don't even mention what was wrong with your TV...

It's not funny. Just ask.

The tv randomly shuts off and turns back on seconds later. They thought it was my surge outlet at first but I explained to them that if I unplug the cable while on then replug it, the TV won't turn back on by itself. I need to use the remote to turn it back on. It seems it's the screen itself that simply blanks out. Also, the buttons on the tv on the lower right sometimes don't work. I did some diagnostics over the phone with sharp and it would respond to certain buttons. There's a hidden service menu in Sharp TV's by holding some buttons but it won't go in it. There's a small white dot on the lower left of the screen. It's been there almost since I owned it. It's not a bad pixel, just the color on a 1/2 round section is just always a different shade then the rest of the tv.

Recently it has gotten crazy, the screen continued to blank out on and off like a reboot and the remote wouldn't shut it off. After a couple of minutes of this reboot, the screen stopped going black but green and black horizontal lines started to pop up. My screen has both green and black lines across it.

I did some searching and found out the internal power supply can be the issue. It's the only piece in the TV that would cause all these problems. They did mention they would replace the internal power supply but then refused to go to my house.

I had a similar problem with another Asian manufacturer. I simply filed suite in small claims court. I got a call the next day begging me to withdraw the case with an offer to overnight me a check.

They paid for all court costs, replacement costs and said to keep the laptop.
Thank you for the input. My lawyer pretty much said the same. But she knows many people won't bother going so far with it or won't spend the money for a lawyer. Some of these big companies know this and rather wait until there's a court filing to react.

I guess court is the only way now.

Impressive pricing, I love my Epson 8350 projector but this is a great price for that size of TV.

For every 10" over 50" the premium is just massive. My friend just got his 60" and now I feel like 60" is too small... especially when I look at my tiny 46"
i hear you...
the 82'' in the living room makes my old 65'', that's now in the bedroom, seem small and the 42'' that's now in the den looks tiny Stick Out Tongue

I never "get" that when people post that

if the tax takes it into another range of not being price competitive..thats fine

But if its still lower all in......why even bring it up?

Depends if you plan on keeping it or not. Squaretrade warranties aren't too expensive with those coupons they put out, so that may be worth it purely as piece of mind... I'm not sure how they handle their repairs though

hi Chris, thx. i read you have to ship it in at your own cost as it is over 39"

i think costco also sells the coverage, but not sure of its coverage, or if it would work as i did not buy from them
