I never own a compressor before and don't know much about it. Will this compressor be powerful to power those impact tools that the auto shops uses to loosen and tighten wheels? If not what's the minimum compressor specs I should look for when looking for one. I want to start building a beginners' workshop in my garage. Thanks
i wouldn't do that with this unit. I would get a LARGE and powerful compressor. 4 to 5 HP and I'd try at least 20 gallons for auto use.

also, price is back to $179?

Yes, I've noticed the same thing and missed more than several deals (this being another) because of this failing. They definitely need to work on this. Frown

It seems puzzling to me that the AC in the deal, the one with the LOWEST capacity in gallons, is also the one with more tanks. Why would they make this with multiple tanks, but each one so small?
Although two tanks take up more physical space and weight than a single tank of the same volume, using two smaller tanks gives more flexibility and can be positioned around the other components to give the unit a smaller overall foot print. Making it more "portable" or compact than single tank units.

About an impact gun..
YMMV but I have a small dual tank that is rated for 3.8@90 with a 5 gallon tank that I've used for years, it can easily run a framing nailer with a 50 ft 3/8 host attached but using an impact even on a 25 foot 3/8 hose is almost useless.

My opinion, if you plan on moving the compressor around the house and/or are worried about physical size and foot print, get a small dual tank or pancake model. Some people do not want a small < 5 @90 cuft per minute compressor in their garage for heavy use, some people do not want to carry a large single tanked wheeled compressor up a flight of steps to do some finish nailing in a second floor bedroom. No one compressor meets everyone's needs.

why was this put on the FP so late? my compressor literally just died last night at 11pm when i was fixing some squeaking subfloors in one of my rental units.

such bad luck - no wonder i can't seem to win the lottery LOL

yeah this is really frustrating.

i've had it to be honest. i'm going to have to set up a Deal Alert just for Craftsman since the timing of the FP listings can't be relied on. problem is - now i will be blasted two dozen times a day with deal alerts

Only 2 dozen?!? I know what you mean, but I refuse to put up with all the deal alerts you get hit with, especially when using a name like craftsman. Maybe if you set up an alert for "Antidisestablishmentarianism" you wouldn't get hammered so bad. Big Grin

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping there would be a more useful reason, such as maybe some kind of "serial" option for building up pressure int he tanks (that the first one can be recharging to full pressure at the same time you draw down the second, maybe)
