However, in the pop-up for this offer, if you click on the "View All Features" link,
it does state that free domain registration is included... they should probably
change this, if it's not the case...
I would do domain registration on my own. If it's included you probably'll have to pay the original fees to register to get it away from them when/if you ever leave. It's a lot better to do it separately.

How hard would it be to transfer my website to another host after this one year deal is over?
It's as easy as copying all the files from the server onto your computer, then copying it back onto the new server.

Quasi-newbie here. Was into website creation many years ago but my knowledge has really faded with the years.

I recently registered a few domains with GoDaddy for cheap. Just created a new FatCow account here and signed up for the $1 hosting. I didn't enter any domain info because I'm not sure which of the recently-registered domains I want to start working on first.

What is the process to link the GoDaddy-registered domain to the new FatCow account? Do I have to transfer the domain registration to FatCow and pay them again for domain registration or is there a way to link my currently GoDaddy-registered domain to my new FatCow account so that the website is live? Thanks a ton! wave

Go search Godaddy's help or the web, or email Godaddy customer support.
Here's the general info:
You just have to have Godaddy point to Fatcow's name servers. It's simple to do.
I've done that for the 3 domain's I have. I learned early on from articles I read to keep domain registration and hosting separate.

I got in on the ipage deal last September-ish, $1 for a years hosting. If I buy this and don't register any domain with them until later, does my year start today, or when I tie a domain to the account?

I have a hosting account with FatCow, been with them for 3 years. I paid $34.xx for 1 year ($2.xx a month) and it's a great value. It's very easy to turn off auto-renew so that after your 12-month ends you can choose to manually renew or sign up with one of their other deals and start another 1-year subscription. Too bad cuz I just signed my new term in March so still have 10 months to go. I may consider just making another new hosting account to use for something else =) lol

I appreciated the free hosting there. I had a domain parked there for years before I realized it was even an option. However, I think that it is silly to give a customer the ability for a Wordpress Install and then not allow them to change file permissions in their directories just because it is a FREE account. YMMV.

i used dreamhost for a year to upload some files and it was great. just wondering if i could do the same on here
They claim 'unlimited disk space' but state that their service isn't meant for file sharing.

I believe that it begins when you buy it. I did not have a domain tied yet and went through the downgrade process listed above and my renewal said it would automatically renew 5/5/2014.

In for a new host for a buck!

Also, for those looking for a domain, the Network Solutions $0.50 is still alive, so you get a domain+hosting for $1.50 for the first year.
