I got a deal where I paid my car off about 11 years ago and have had zero payments since then. Leasing is for fools.
It sort of depends on how much value you place on having a new car. If you're looking at a new $44k car, you probably place a pretty high value on that. If you were going to buy and replace with a new one within 2-3 years, leasing can be a decent deal - it all depends on how much you want to spend on your car.
