When you cancel out a Thumbs Down vote ( change your vote ) why does the thread remain listed in your "Threads I Dislike"??
Perhaps this doesn't bother anyone else, nor apply to them, however occasionally I give a Thumbs Down vote to a thread, if I think it's not good, doesn't work, etc., but then change my mind later. That doesn't mean I change my mind and necessarily give it a Thumbs Up vote, although sometimes I do, but just that I no longer think the thread offer totally stinks, either because the OP has added new information or changed a link so that it does now work, or deleted the link, which makes it no longer deserving of a Thumbs Down, IMO. My problem is that it still stays listed in my "Threads I Dislike" even after I change my vote. ( by clicking on the triangle with the "x" in the center, which I presume means it now has neither a TU/TD vote.)I could be wrong as to what others see when if they check that area ( Threads I Like/Dislike ), but I know that I can still see any thread I have ever given a Thumbs Down to, regardless of whether or not I later canceled out my vote when I decided the thread wasn't really total crap, or just decided I was perhaps a little harsh in my original judgement of the thread, or the thread was changed somewhat to make it better, but still not really good enough for a Thumbs UP vote from me. Is there any way, short of giving a Thumbs Up to a thread we don't think really merits one, after originally giving it a Thumbs Down but then canceling that out, but still prevent it from still showing up in Threads I Dislike??? I had a thread on my thumbs down list, I removed the thumb and it was still there. I gave it a thumbs up and it was still there. It seems it only registers your first thumb. It's kind of annoying.

It should reflect your new vote when the page is regenerated on the server which could take a few hours.

Well...um....I just looked and it's still there. It's one I canceled out my Thumbs Down vote on about a week ago. I saw it was still showing there in my Deals I Dislike last night and tried canceling it out again. Still there. But I will try cleaning my cache and rebooting later and then looking to see if it's no longer listed, since by then it would certainly have had plenty of time to be updated correctly at the server.
Maybe it just shows for me, though and not for public viewing?? If somebody would look at my Deals I Dislike and tell me how many you see there ( NOT exactly which ones you see, but just how many ) it would be helpful as to my being sure it no longer appears as a Thumbs Down vote to others. ( I would appreciate this if anybody has time to look for me). I'm just trying to be fair about a particular thread since it has now been improved somewhat by making much of the information originally given now more accurate. I only have one page of "Deals I Dislike" so it woldn't take more than a minute for someone to look and tell me how many are viewable. I count 15 threads showing for me right now. ( which still isn't an inordinate amount, since I've been here a year, I think ) Even some of those are ones I KNOW I changed my vote on later so they shouldn't be showing either, but still do. Thanks!

Thanks to both of you, MsTexSaver and m. for looking at my Deals I Dislike for me so that I could be sure. I thought they weren't really going away out of the list, even after I cancel the TD, but now I'm positive of it. *sigh* No wonder I got people mad at me all the time if they still think I'm so mean as to thumb down a thread even after they try to fix it!!
Your help was appreciated and it was really nice of you both to take the time to check for me. |
