Dude... time to hop on Newegg chat. I got the difference back:

You are welcome and thank you for holding. Please kindly note that all of our pricing and promotions are listed online, Due to the constant fluctuation of prices in this market we cannot offer any price guarantees. This (exception) is normally outside of our standard policy/process. However, we value you as a customer of Newegg and I really want to help resolve your situation so I have issued you a $18 credit into your account to honor new promotion code and price difference for you this time. It will take 3-5 business days for the funds to be posted onto your original payment method.
lol they always (except one time) have said that to me. But fact is, especially if you a shoprunner customer, it's not in their interests to not just give you the difference. Otherwise you can just buy another one, and return the higher priced one so long as you haven't opened it. Once they said no to me, so I returned it, and bought another one. (since shopruner free returns). Since that time, they always price adjust...but YMMV.

Got one early this morning. Replacing an old Linksys WRT300N that does not have very good coverage in my new house. I'm hoping this one will have better coverage.

Ugg, sorry to hear that. Still, I'm sure you could find something to buy. One idea, you could buy another router while it's on sale and return the one you have. You'll pay a 15% restock fee but it might even out.
They said they normally would not do this at all once a product has already been delivered, but were doing this as a "one time courtesy." I've been shopping at newegg for at least a decade, have ordered probably at least 50-75 times from them, have never returned an item once (even when I should have, frankly, because it was defective), and never asked for a price match before. I mentioned that last fact, and also that I read that someone else got a credit & I would prefer that, but it didn't go anywhere.

Oh well. Given that amazon often price matches newegg prices anyway, has been much more accommodating with order issues (and I actually have made returns to them, and just two weeks ago got them to do a $130 price match on the lumix G5 + lens deal, even after the order had been delivered), and doesn't hit you with a 15% restocking fee when you do return, I will probably choose amazon (or even superbiiz) from now on, even if the price is a few bucks more. Once I spend this $18 that expires in 90 days, that is.

I would probably not be that unhappy about $18 store credit. It's the "expires in 90 days" that rubs me the wrong way.

NEVER do business with Superbiiz, they have the worst return policy I've ever seen. I mean, they are OK for something that can't be defective or returned (thermal paste, software, etc) but never for electronics.

Agree, I used shoprunner in my transaction and I had it in my head that it could be easily returned.

Shoprunner returns are free? No 15% restocking fee? Tthanks for that info. Ok, if they wouldn't just refund me the difference, then I guess I am going to have to play this game, I guess. It's becoming about more than the $18, lol. It's about being a customer for over a decade, & thousands of dollars, that has never asked for a single return or price adjustmetn in that entire time, but being arbitrarily turned down (since I know others are getting it, and even told them I know this), when I finally did try for the first time.

yeah do it =D. I've only had to contact them within this past year...you know how they yo-yo their prices.
But I always say that...."just look at how MUCH i've bought from you guys!"

Edit: Actually I don't know if they waive the 15% something to look into....
EDIT two: """"If you return an item for a refund due to personal reasons (changed your mind, etc.), it may be subject to a 15% restocking fee. Your ShopRunner membership covers the cost of return shipping only. It does not waive restocking fees."""

BUT it was worth it for me =D. 30$ difference was worth it haha.

Can some one tell me how is this compared to Motorola SBG6580 SURFboard Extreme Wireless Cable Modem. I have Time Warner as my provider and looking into buying the Motorola modem to use it as my modem and wireless router.

Please advice.

Thank you

I would think an all-in-one would never be as good as a standalone router, but maybe I'm completely wrong. The features of the Asus are worth it a lone, including VPN and the bandwidth interface. It's so good.

I'm chatting them again right now in another windo. I basically said, ultimatum, give me the $18 as a straight credit, or create an RMA for me. we'll see how it goes, i didn not know about 15% restocking fee not being waived. will let you know how it goes.

From the 285+ posts about the N66U version, it seems that one is more stable than this AC router. Numerous complaints of dropped wifi signals. People also mentioned that AC is still in draft stages, and discussed waiting until it's a standard. Not sure why the N66U would be more stable than the AC for broadcasting an N signal though, but that's what was discussed.

I just bought the N version and couldn't be happier. The signal is unbelievable in my house (no more dead spots) and is rock solid.
I've had this router for a few months (with the most recent firmware) and don't have a single complaint. Never have had to reset it, has a nice, intuitive user interface and the speed is much faster and more consistent than my previous router (which had DD-WRT firmware). Coverage is great.

As far as waiting for the final AC standardization, I would expect to wait years for that. Didn't it take about 5 years for N to go final?

LOOK what I found! A dummy UI:

http://event.asus.com/2012/nw/dummy_ui/en/

I am checking out the interface now. You say the stock ASUS firware is pretty good?

I really want Tomato on it.

========
Sure enough. Not many DDNS are listed on there. I dont like those free ones.
