I'm chatting them again right now in another windo. I basically said, ultimatum, give me the $18 as a straight credit, or create an RMA for me. we'll see how it goes, i didn not know about 15% restocking fee not being waived. will let you know how it goes.
Success. they changed it to a refund (sorry it took me a while to post update, but I had someone come in my office

Any intelligent conversation about the new Asus 67U? Seems to be a major shift in processing power.

Also is draft spec a problem? Seems like beamforming is only being released in firmware upgrades by some manufacturers.

I saw the 67u and it looks like the Netgear.

No physical antennas ???? NO WAY!

Internal antennas are weak man and only for show and looks!

Hey i just looked up the ac67 and it does have external antennas. The one with an internal is the 56u. As far as the ac67's new features, the only thing that stands out to me is that it has a throughput of 1300+600 Mbps vs the 66u at 1300+450 Mbps.

Considering that you will have to wait a while for any stable stock/dd-wrt/tomato firmware, the marginal bump in specs and it's pricing,I would just get this one; I just got two.

This deal seems expensive when factoring in the cost of an 802.11ac USB dongle. Why not get the Edimax 802.11ac that comes with both AC router and USB 3.0 AC dongle for $120 on Amazon?

Too bad this will not support Tomato!

The other version does.

Shoot!
Buying a good router means not having to run Tomato to get a decent router.

I have had this one for a few months now and love it. The cloud piece is awesome. No longer use DropBox. I don't use the AC yet but for $30 more at the time it made sense as this will be the newest standard in WiFi.

Keep in mind that this is AC Draft and doesn't necessarily guarantee you are now future proof since the standard of AC could change before the deadline.

Plus, IIRC, the first wave of AC only supports one client at AC speeds... multi user MIMO will be supported in wave 2.

Yeah, as much as I wanted to pull the trigger on this deal (and almost did) I think it would be better to just wait a little bit longer.
