im getting tired of all these lenovo notebook deals, they arent that good and they are just taking primary spaces in the frontpage and hotdeals
You clearly don't know anything about computers. This is an actual i7 processor, not an i7u that they put in those ultrabooks and make people think they got the real deal. Also this is a 1080p screen, good luck finding that on all but a handful of laptops anymore. Not to mention the 16gb ssd cache. Rather than just making comments, how about you come up with some examples of better deals and be constructive hmmm?

I bought this laptop at 839 and I like it overall.

One downside that I can mention is this is NOT switchable graphics (which I don't understand why at all). The laptop uses the dedicated nvidia 750 all the time and the battery life does suffer. The ultrabay slot is awesome and potentially could get this baby in sli if they release a card to put in there. It can hold a secondary battery too, more manufacturers should use this! Repped!

Please, point out another laptop that can score, while running cool & quiet, with the quad-core Ivy Bridge and 1080p LCD, P3300 in 3dmark11 for $800, as an everyday price? This deal is smoking hot, hence why it keeps hitting the front page when it comes around.
He rather see hot deals on Apple's Macbook products.

Wasn't the $879 deals better since it had the exact same spec but with 12gb of ram instead of 8gb on this one?

Great deal, TU and repped, but currently on a tight budget and probably going to have to wait until my job situation improves before pulling the trigger on an upgrade.

they are heavy, short battery, small screen. specs are decent, but doesnt make up for the cons.

i dont know of any better deals right now, but this sure isnt, if im gonna go this rout i might as well build a desktop. shake head

Gaming laptops are all heavy with short battery, what is your point? It isn't meant to be a gaming on the go type system.

can you add an SSD to the 59371960 model? i was just gonna toss the 16GB SSD and replace it with a 256GB running the OS off of it.. is this possible? or can I only add an SSD to the 59371972 model? they should be the same chasis right?

I am typing from my new y500 right now... I ordered mine on the 7th for 839 (same configuration as this deal) and received it this afternoon. I used free shipping method. Apparently they had one ready to ship immediately even though the website said it would not be ready until the 10th.

I am loving this sytem so far. It is super fast and runs quiet and cool. I am not impressed with the touchpad but I knew that it was going to suck. Just google it if your not aware. It is quite touchy but I found that backing off the sensitivity has helped make it into a manageable annoyance at worst. Everything else about this pc is fantastic though. The screen is just sublime! I cannot ever go back to a low resolution laptop again. 1080p is amazing in the 15inch. It has been holding right around 125F on the cores when surfing and around 150F when gaming. GPU runs around 100 idle and 150 when gaming. All of this was while it sat on my lap so cooling was probably hindered a bit.

I bought this system as a desktop replacement/ new semi-portable laptop... and that seems to be exactly what it is. The build quality is very good and the overall feel is very sturdy. It does have some weight to it so keep that in mind if you want to carry it around every day. I havent tried it yet but I read that this system will drive two external monitors and the internal display at once. That was a huge selling point for me as I need the ability to run dual displays for a desktop setting. Just need to get a monitor that supports HDMI now...

I had originally planned to replace the 16gb ssd with a larger one to run the OS but after playing with this thing I dont see a need. Boot times are very fast and I honestly couldnt justify spending $100+ to boost the performance of this system how it sits here now.
