I just submitted a price match from the $839 deal (showed up earlier this week) under their 21 day price match policy. Was painless and seems that they are going to honor it with no issues. I will report back if they give me an fuss about the match.

For anyone who ordered the 12 gig version and had it delayed, just call in and ask for 5% off due to the delay and they should give it to you no problem. Mine was supposed to ship out yesterday but I got a email saying it was delayed. The rep told me they were waiting on a part that was supposed to arrive on Monday. Final price came down to 835.05 for the 12 gig version.

How does this compare to the asus g75vw I got for 749? It is 1080p with "17.3 i7 3630QM with 660m and 8gb ram

By the way the asus has a matte screen not glossy

I purchased one of these for work before this was on here, I have had nothing but trouble with it. Mine came with a keyboard that didn't work properly and the touch pad would only left click.

After being hung up on from the first Customer Service Rep, I found one that was helpful and sent me the replacement parts which I required. After opening up the Laptop to replace the keyboard and the touchpad (which requires everything but the motherboard to be removed from the bottom piece) one of the ribbon cables was missing a hold down on the motherboard.

Now upon reassembly, I have lost a USB port and both my microphone and headphone jacks. I usually don't say this, but I'd stay away from this model specifically.

I have a ThinkPad that I've had great luck with, and would recommend that.

Here's a card that will go in the Ultrabay slot: http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrar...u_area=yes
Thanks! 230 is STEEP! But it's what I expected. Btw for the gamers, SC2 in all ultra and 1080p no problem. (I know SC2 isn't that graphics intensive but yea)

Btw I don't find the screen shine to be all that bad. The viewing angles aren't great though compared to my Dell 15r SE 1080p screen anyway.
I'm gonna try to get the price match too!

Picked up 2 of these this morning. Thank you OP.

FWIW - I had to call to 'confirm pricing' due to a quantity of more than one. After I navigated the Lenovo phone tree (took a couple tries to get the right person), I spoke to a very helpful sales rep who completed my order over the phone.

This is a much better deal. 12GB doesn't run in dual channel anyway. If you want that much ram buy this and upgrade to 16gb.

Awesome laptop. Got mine for $759 shipped (new) with the 650M, i7, 8gb, 1tb+16gbssd, 1080p. The downsides exist (trackpad is awful, it's not especially light, battery is 3 hrs moderate use) but if you know what you're getting and you need something like this you can't beat it.
$759, when? Gives me a reason to wait for that price :-)

Do you find it heavy, clunky, etc? I want to be able to take it around a bit (say, within home, to the car, from car to Starbucks, etc.) but not as much as a student would on the campus.

Was upset when I missed the $652 refurb, but $157 doesn't seem like too big a price to get a new unit with a way better video card and 16GB SSD. Glad I jumped in on this.

BTW, where's the SD medallion for this deal?

i got the same asus g75vw and i think both have the same i7 & 8 gb of ram.

it's actually a matter of preference when it comes to the 1080p screen as the asus is 17.3 while lenovo is 15.6 with the latter being glossy while the former is matte, like you mentioned.

the lenovo prolly's got a slightly better graphics card + bluetooth.

the asus got lighted keyboard, weighs heavier @ almost 10 lbs and wins on looks though i admit that the 2 latter points are polarizing issues.

price-wise, the asus at 749 was a clearance price while the lenovo's 809 seems to be almost likened to a regular price.

either laptop imo is a good buy and just a matter of which you get your hands on first, which in my case, i came across the asus first.nod

This screen is very good and I get no reflections off of it. Maybe if you work with a chandelier right above you or plan on using it outside, but that's not my case.

My order got shipped out two weeks before the date it told me. Took no more than a week and a half for me to receive mine. I can handle that in today's world of instant gratification. The value that this machine offers is worth it.

This is the best deal on the Y500 yet. It's well worth it if you want a desktop replacement/gaming laptop and will likely continue to drop as the Haswell date gets closer.
