laugh out loud This is a response from a mommy who now thankfully has too much time on her hands, baby is in his swing napping. woot

As far as what I buy for my little guy (he's now 5 months old), I have not purchased any baby clothes regular price, I buy mostly clearance clothes, he won't know.. He currently is in 9 month clothes, used a medela breastpump until just 2 weeks ago (when the little guy was 2 months old, he was wearing size 3-6month outfits, 3month outfits were tight by then). Clothing sizes are bogus imho, I wouldn't buy a bunch of clothes for next season unless you have an idea how big they're going to be, I'd buy bigger than what their age is.. for example, I bought the little one 12 month clothes for this summer (he was born in december), and I bought 18month outfits for this fall... only bought a few 24 month outfits for next winter... extremely good deal I found a few weeks back..
also, gerber brand clothing runs small
I buy mostly from amazon.com with my prime account, and my amazon mom membership, I used pampers diapers at first, then huggies, I have no problems with either.. I don't buy luvs diapers, I just don't like them.. I've used babies r us store brand, and have also used honest.com diapers (they are thick, like a sanitary napkin, but supposed to be better for babies) I use huggies wipes for my baby, SUCH a great deal on them on amazon, I get deal alerts on SD for them..

I like the following items soooo much
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...S-_0_0_0_0
(while my baby stopped taking a pacifier at 2 months, these were good while they lasted, better for babies, easy to clean, and they can be used as a teether toy too... I also had 2 wubbanubs, one giraffe and one frog when he was a newborn and they were ADORABLE)

http://www.amazon.com/Vulli-Sophi...he+giraffe
(BUY THIS DIRECTLY FROM BABIES 'R US, My baby loves these, I can't tell you how many reviews are negative because apparently someone may be selling counterfeit ones on amazon, but use a 20% off coupon and get it directly from the store just to be safe)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
These are good because the little guy likes to grab the other kinds of bibs and he tries to eat them

http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Ktan-C...by+k%27tan
Love these, have 2, one I bought for $25, the other I got in purple for $18

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
This is a great baby monitor, but if you don't know how to operate it or just want an easy to use one, it may run more expensive.. I bought this for $55 very good condition, can see baby when on the same wifi connection, crystal clear from 12+ feet away, can also move the camera remotely from another computer or my phone, I use the tinycam app for android devices. I'm still working on the audio...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
Anything lamaze brand I heart

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
This is better for the baby than johnson and johnson imho

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
These swaddles are excellent, small for newborns, and the large we've been using for 2 months now when he outgrew the small. Babies should not be swaddled after they can roll over, our 5 month old is still swaddled since he sleeps better like that, but ever since he was a newborn, he has NEVER tolerated his arms being swaddled, so his arms are out, so it's not a real swaddle and he can roll back over with them.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
I used these for 175 bags, 6oz in each bag. I did have leaks on the bottom of them for a few, probably the ones I dropped when I would open the freezer, it's tough to stack them precariously. So, advice for when you're defrosting them, put them in a small rectangular pyrex and have them upside down. Of all the leaks I had, only 2 were unusable because they were leaks at the top of the bag and the milk spilled out.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
Baby found this amusing

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
Really do work

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
For breastpump, buying extra parts is always helpful, otherwise you spend all day rewashing everything... easier to wash everything at the end of the day.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
Compact and great for pump parts and bottles

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
The 5 oz are slow flow, the 8 oz are medium flow... some babies won't tolerate this kind of bottle, they may do better with avent drop ins, tommy tippee, browns bottles

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
Baby LOVES this.. it's his carseat toy, I hear him crinkling it when I go out.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
This was necessary when he was a newborn, all that nasty sticky poop... now, that he's older and poops once a day, I use a small dab of desitin on those 'special' diaper changes.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
Baby would just stare at this hanging in his crib when he was a newborn

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
It's nice

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
Fabulous inexpensive diaper changing station

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
Used to give baby baths in the sink

http://www.amazon.com/Primo-340B-...WRR1FKEMRY
Or you could just use this, suitable for a newborn, I now use this one for the baby, stick it in the tub and wash him sitting up. He doesn't cry anymore, he stopped liking getting washed in the sink.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
I have these in my crib, I like them (blue and chocolate)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
You always need a thermometer

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
Necessary for those who breast pump with a double electric pump, you can do other things, like type on the computer Wink

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...UTF8&psc=1
Nice, but wish they were longer

http://www.amazon.com/American-Ba...RF894M6Z6B
Very nice quality, great for when the baby chews on it. I have 2, he loves them the most

http://www.amazon.com/Bestever-02...OQ41RNHJO5
Absolutely not necessary, I love it though, I have the lion and giraffe, soooo cute

http://www.amazon.com/My-Brest-Fr...F7YKCI5JH6
Good for breastfeeding while it lasted, used it for 2 weeks, then started pumping.. would have not been able to hold baby propped with it, it gets super tiring..

http://www.amazon.com/Booginhead-...8JDVLQ1WBL
Well reviewed, but I never got to use mine, little guy refuses a pacifier now, he prefers only the finest cuisine of his hands

http://www.amazon.com/Kolcraft-Pu...EU6WPRGZDV

MUST BUY A SWING! Little guy sleeps in his since he was a newborn, 4 naps a day

http://www.amazon.com/Tiny-Love-G...tivity+gym
Love how adjustable this is, I still use mine

http://www.amazon.com/Piyo-Baby-N...VHYW9PBWZI
As newborns, it's safer to bite their nails off with your teeth, no joke.. then as they get a little steadier, these are great.

http://www.amazon.com/Evenflo-Jou...XZ9OTUJG4W
Baby shower gift from my brother, there are better ones out there I'm sure, but I love this one, given with love, and it has a higher weight limit than others, this one is good till 30lbs.. little guy is 20lbs almost right now..

http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Pric...LGTYZUSFAZ
And, lastly, this item was bought as a filler item to use a promo code, and I LOVE IT SO FREAKING MUCH. We started using it to implement a sleep routine, we would put the baby in his crib at night (starting at 1 month old) and we would play the music, then he would cry for 15 minutes, we'd come in and pat him, but would NOT pick him up, he'd eventually cry himself to sleep, after a while, he'd cry for 10 minutes, then 5 minutes, then a little fuss.. now, he hears it and he closes his eyes, puts his hands above his head and almost instantly falls asleep.. best device ever.. With this, baby started to sleep through the night at 10 weeks.. Smilie

To be honest...you will find many hits and misses with your newborn. Many will swear that certain things worked for their baby, but they may not work for your little one. For example, a bouncer worked for my oldest, but not for my 2nd or last. However, a swing worked for the baby, but would have never worked for my oldest two. The same goes for bottles/pacifiers...not all kids take them, and often times you will have to go through several to find the right fit. My oldest loved Mam, but my son would not take one AT ALL and we tried several different brands...the baby will take one every once in a while. She thinks it is a toylaugh out loud.

You may also find that your little one does not like to be swaddled. Yep...it happens! None of mine wanted to be confined and I think it had more to do with how hot they got. Meaning depending on your climate and your temperature (your wife's)...your little one may not need to be in those Halo sacks or foot in PJs. Hell, I know my kids would have had a heatstrokenod. Funny thing is each one of them sweated from day one, which the doctors found funny.

As far as the pp saying biting nails...not sure about that. I have always used the baby clippers (available at Walmart for ~$1.50) when my little ones were sleep with no issues. If that makes you nervous...use a nail file.

Thx, great list. My LO now 13 weeks slept in the FP rock n play for the first 6 wks, then moved on to the swing which was a life saver. Don't know what I would do when he out grows it.

To my surprise, we loved the side snap shirts with cuffed sleeves (target, babies r us) more the bodysuits. No need to pull over head n arms when changeing clothe, which you woe be doing a lot.

Totally agree w the clothe sizing. So confusing, just asked for help w shoe sizing today.

That is so much.. honestly we bought so many things based on so many recommendations.. and so much went unused. Long story short, don't buy any new born clothes. And buy very little 3 months. Everyone will buy them.. and they will last so short of a time..
