Subjective question, but if you get 2 you can just split the cable to each if you don't have a .2 receiver.

I have a sony receiver thats 7.1, however the sub connects via sub in. This is just a cable the size of an rca cable (red white yellow, but only one cable obviously. Will I be able to use this sub with my receiver? It seems the only way to do it is use the r or l ports (red or white). Also, I have a sub that also connects via sub in, but i can also take my front speakers and pass then into a port on the back of my sub, and out of the ports on the back of my sub to reach the speaker? I'm just confused on the difference between speaker cable, yanno 8guage r and l, vs a sheilded sub in cable.

IIRC, the LFE port on that sub can connect to your receiver via a coax cable. I had a Klipsch Sub-12 that I connected to my H/K AVR-254 in such a manner.

You would connect to the white RCA jack labelled "Left/LFE"
