Just to add some actual real world experience to the speculation...

The works fine if you already have directv and no sunday ticket. I have had directv for years, got this deal, signed up with the username and code, changed those to something easy to remember, and it works fine. Didn't have to call, sign up, play any games with anyone, nothing. 100% online, easy and it works. If you go to the site and sign in and get an error or cant watch, wait a bit as it takes some time for it to kick in especially if you change username/passwords.

Video quality is not as good as the directv hd broadcast, its softer, has some minor jaggies and a little problem with tearing on horizontal panning, especially when there are stripes in the picture. But its pretty decent.

This works fine with tab casting. An i3 is more than enough cpu, thats a 30% load on my i3 desktop. But with a hardwired gigabit connection and very clean wifi (no other devices using it, close to the router, good wireless throughput on the router) the PQ is even softer, has more jaggies and the sound isn't fully in sync but its not off a lot. Its watchable. The audio on the main tv hooked to the desktop goes out, but the picture continues.

Ask any questions in the thread, I'll keep an eye out as I continue to tinker with it.

Personal Clarification - I have used the Web NFL Ticket last year. In order to be eligible to use the internet package you need to be UNABLE to get DirecTV. The good thing is that this isn't a dead deal for any of you. When you call or sign up for the internet only package DirecTV has you confirm that you are unable to get service at your location, this could have been verified by a **3rd party installer** (directv will not have anything on record from their end since they didn't come out for the assessment, and they certainly won't waste man-hours on coming out to check each person's home). You tell them you attempted to get DirecTV, someone came out and told you that you couldn't get signal based on the way your balcony/patio was facing (if you live in an apartment complex), or you tell them the home you are in is a rented home and your landlord won't allow you to get a satellite on the roof and your trees are too high to put it on a tripod. They will have you confirm that you are unable to get service and will allow you to sign up. I had the REAL issue with my apartment complex but my parents own their home and they used the second issue with the trees and no line of sight for signal. We had ZERO issues and it was a smooth process with no hangups at all.

I hope this helps! Good Luck!!!

""There's been a bit of confusion as to what all this means. Yes, DirecTV is doing the deal because it hopes football fans might ditch their cable provider and sign up with them. But even if you live in an area with DirecTV access, and choose not to subscribe, you may still use the code to watch Sunday Ticket games on your computer, tablet or other mobile device. You don't have to subscribe to DirectTV."

- Kotaku relaying information from Madden marketing director Anthony Stevens

I wonder if the PS3 would be able to use the app with this. Likely not but it would be great!

Sweet, So Sunday Ticket is finally moving out to all tablets mobile devices and computers? I thought they weren't going to do any of that because of the contract with DirecTV.

Wha? Sunday Ticket is the service provided by DirecTV. And it's also been available online and on tablets for the past two years.

for the online only service, what does it mean "unable to receive DTV"? I don't want DirectTV but my house can probably get the signal.

No, Sunday Ticket is a sports package in itself, they currently have exclusivity with DirecTV, but are in no way owned by them. After further reading, everything is still provided by DirecTV, I thought that that this was going to be separate from them because it says "fans unable to use DirecTV service".

Why is this deal in the red so far?

Madden MSRP is $60 per game + TAX and usually doesn't go on sale until a month or so. You might be able to get a pre-order discount of $45 somewhere, maybe even $40. Sunday Ticket is usually $300, and I think it went for $100 - $150 last year. This is a fantastic deal especially if you can use the option to add a PS3 for $50 bucks!

As a current subscriber I get nothing with this deal except an overpriced video game. And from what i've seen around the web the fine print on the trial is 2 years with 1 free. So you are still paying $300 for it.

Looks as if you will be able to use this on any type of device. The text in bold seems to indicate this.

Yea, I think this deal is only good for non-subscribers. We do need clarification if this will work on PS3. Hopefully someone can find out.
