Just to add some actual real world experience to the speculation...

The works fine if you already have directv and no sunday ticket. I have had directv for years, got this deal, signed up with the username and code, changed those to something easy to remember, and it works fine. Didn't have to call, sign up, play any games with anyone, nothing. 100% online, easy and it works. If you go to the site and sign in and get an error or cant watch, wait a bit as it takes some time for it to kick in especially if you change username/passwords.

Video quality is not as good as the directv hd broadcast, its softer, has some minor jaggies and a little problem with tearing on horizontal panning, especially when there are stripes in the picture. But its pretty decent.

This works fine with tab casting. An i3 is more than enough cpu, thats a 30% load on my i3 desktop. But with a hardwired gigabit connection and very clean wifi (no other devices using it, close to the router, good wireless throughput on the router) the PQ is even softer, has more jaggies and the sound isn't fully in sync but its not off a lot. Its watchable. The audio on the main tv hooked to the desktop goes out, but the picture continues.

Ask any questions in the thread, I'll keep an eye out as I continue to tinker with it.

Personal Clarification - I have used the Web NFL Ticket last year. In order to be eligible to use the internet package you need to be UNABLE to get DirecTV. The good thing is that this isn't a dead deal for any of you. When you call or sign up for the internet only package DirecTV has you confirm that you are unable to get service at your location, this could have been verified by a **3rd party installer** (directv will not have anything on record from their end since they didn't come out for the assessment, and they certainly won't waste man-hours on coming out to check each person's home). You tell them you attempted to get DirecTV, someone came out and told you that you couldn't get signal based on the way your balcony/patio was facing (if you live in an apartment complex), or you tell them the home you are in is a rented home and your landlord won't allow you to get a satellite on the roof and your trees are too high to put it on a tripod. They will have you confirm that you are unable to get service and will allow you to sign up. I had the REAL issue with my apartment complex but my parents own their home and they used the second issue with the trees and no line of sight for signal. We had ZERO issues and it was a smooth process with no hangups at all.

I hope this helps! Good Luck!!!

""There's been a bit of confusion as to what all this means. Yes, DirecTV is doing the deal because it hopes football fans might ditch their cable provider and sign up with them. But even if you live in an area with DirecTV access, and choose not to subscribe, you may still use the code to watch Sunday Ticket games on your computer, tablet or other mobile device. You don't have to subscribe to DirectTV."

- Kotaku relaying information from Madden marketing director Anthony Stevens

Only the $99 25th Anniversary Edition has this promo.

PS: GO EAGLES! Big Grin
Yea, I hope the Eagles do well this season, I am tired of hearing about basketball, baseball and hockey. I honestly would be happy with 10-6 this year, or hell, even 8-8.

I am looking at cancelling my Direct TV next month..only thing stopping me was Sunday Ticket. This looks promising and I am buying now, thinking later! You have until August people if there are any issues with a contract to cancel!

Meh what the hell, worst case I might be able to flip the code for 75 bucks or so?

How do we know if "we are able" to get DTV? I mean I probably could, but I have no desire to get DTV, I just wanted this for the tablet/computer access. Sounds like I could get boned by the phrasing.

Good deal. You can still stream on PS3. I don't really care about the game. I'll just sell it

I sent an email asking for a response if you can use it on a PS3. When I get a response, I'll add it to the WiKi.

I will be happy with marked improvement.

I'm already giddy with the directions taken by the management and coaching staffs thus far, the draft was excellent as far as I'm concerned, and we made some great free agency moves. I just like the way we're headed post-Reid.

The wording of this promo is throwing me off. If i have directv, but do not have Sunday Ticket am I still eligible to receive the full Sunday Ticket Max, or the PC/Tablet/Phone only option?

It's all incredibly confusing.

I just want to know what I get for the $99 if I am not, nor ever want to be, a DirecTV subscriber. Dontknow

Buying the game gives you NFL Sunday Ticket for 17 seasons, plus possible other discount for services with DirecTV.

here is what many of us are thinking:

1. I am not a current subscriber
2. my residence can probably get directv
3. but I don't want directv
4. can I get in on this deal?

The wording on the promo seems to indicate that if you are able to get the service, then you have to get the service. It also reads as if you are not able to (physically) get the service, then you can just watch it online.

Yes please do! I really don't want to have to watch it on a small computer screen... I need to see Megatron, Bush and Stafford on that 60 inch HDTV! Big Grin

So am I to understand that you won't be able to watch this on an actual DirecTV satellite signal?

I'd also be interested in the PS3 streaming part, since yeah, if this is only for tablets/PC/mobile devices, this is not "Over a $400 value!", this is a gimped version of Sunday Ticket.
