Deal Details

A few days ago, Copy.com [copy.com] upped their free storage offer to 15GB (from 7GB).

The main advantage here is that there is no filesize limit. It is also easy to get permanent upgrades to your storage quota by promoting them through referral links (+5GB per referral) and tweeting (+2GB for an initial tweet).

They don't have a particularly large presence in the mediascape, but they are backed by Barrucuda Networks, which seems to be a large and fairly reputable cloud host.

Anyways, I figured you guys might want to give them a try. To recap:
+15GB at signup
+5GB for signing up via a referral
+2GB for an initial tweet
+5GB per new signup you refer

Apps are available across all major mobile and desktop OS platforms. The web interface is (IMO) very slick, and you can directly share files and monitor file activity.

Read their privacy policy: https://www.copy.com/about/privacy

To get 5GB from the referral signup, do the following:
1. Sign up using someone's referral link (I appreciate the PMs, but please try and spread the wealth, and remember it's not allowed on this site)
2. Confirm your account via the confirmation email they send you
3. Download and install a desktop client and sign in (may work with mobile clients, untested)
You should now have 5GB of extra storage.

Don't coordinate referrals out in the public. You can tell who you should be talking to by reading the posts in this thread. As an FYI, anyone who has signed up for an account will be given their own referral link. You may have noticed, but anyone who solicited referrals had their post removed from this thread. Please respect SD's TOS.

Video streaming:
Apparently, Copy supports instant streaming of some forms of video. I just uploaded a copy of Sintel (Blender Institute movie project) and as soon as the upload finished, I was able to stream it from Copy's web interface. Quality was very good, and you can stream for public viewing as well. (Please, do NOT abuse this service)
Here's my link as a demo: https://www.copy.com/s/tWeyvsZzHv...rround.mp4
(This movie is released under a Creative Commons license. If there is any legal conflict with me sharing the content via Copy, please notify me immediately. For reference: http://www.sintel.org/sharing/)

Speeds
On my connection:
~0.5 - 1 MB/s upload
~2 - 3 MB/s download

A small FAQ, based on responses from their support team:
Q: What are the bandwidth limitations for both personal and shared / public use?
A: We do not limit bandwidth for personal shared / public use.

Q: What are the maximum theoretical upload / download speeds?
A: We do not limit bandwidth. Currently, we only allow one connection to our server at a time. This may cause slowness issues for some users. This will change when we open up our servers for multiple connections.

Q: Are there any limits on the number of times shared files can be downloaded?
A: No limits to the number of times you can share a file/folder

Q: Are there any limitations regarding the referral earned free data?
A: No limits to referral space earned. I think the record so far is ~10TB. OMG drool

Reminder: Referrals of any kind are not allowed, period, whether via links, codes, PMs or anything else. Thank you - widgit ("no referrals via PM (AKA, we don't want you helping each other out unless we benefit...a sign that SD is becoming "too big to fail" SMH)

There is a file size limit for the web uploader. Says 1024MB (1GB) in one spot, 100MB in another.

Bah, I knew something was off with my wording... You get 5GB for each person that creates a new account via your referral link.

EDIT: Double post bot kick in please...

ill take it for the web interface. dont have to risk anything downloading some crapware to the comp

edit: interface kinda sucks. Its not terrible, just not very good. Skydrive and Box.com are still miles ahead when it comes to that department.

I sent you a PM.

I'll be off for a few hours, so if anyone wants instant gratification, direct some PMs to the other people who post in this thread. It might be nice if someone could coordinate a referrals thread in Deal Talk.
Thanks OP!

I've used Barracuda-powered system's before: they're reliable, though I would exercise caution if this is the only feature Copy.com offers. There are simply too many cloud sites that employ gimmicks (Box.com for WebDAV, SugarSync for collab, Mediafire for web accessibility, etc) and not enough that people actually can call unique. Alas, such is the life of a cloud service.
