Thread Details

Hey, I know there are a bunch of old threads about this but here goes: My girlfriend cancelled our service (under her name) about 5 months ago, and I'm trying to sign up as a new customer with comcast. I'm talking to an online sales rep (I was told that these guys are often outsourced and aren't always as aggressive), and he's asking me when we moved in. My question is, if they know we've been here for 2 years, is it possible to sign up as a new customer even though my girlfriend (who lives in this apartment as well) had an account with them a few months back? Thank you guys so much for helping me out with this.

Yes, it's possible. I canceled service under my name when the 6 month promo price ended and my roommate signed up for service the next day under his name as a new customer.

Well, you can even sign up under your name, as long as you use a different phone number. Usually, comcast ties the customer account number with the phone number and last four digits of social.

Just cancel and resubscribe with a different phone number with the same social or with the same phone number but with a spouse/roommate (different social)

I actually re-signed up recently using my same name/phone number and had no problem. However, I was without Comcast for two weeks and I didn't call direct to Comcast, but via this number 877-298-0903. Whereas the Comcast site only offers performance at $29.99 for 6 months, I was offered Performance for $29.99 for 12 months/$44.99 for 2nd 12 months with no early termination fee and no contract. If you want Blast, they offered that for $10.00 more. I did this in the CA Bay Area.

Is that a comcast number? I'm always confused at all the numbers available. Can I ask what you said on the phone? I called and said their competitors offer lower rates, but they refused to give me a better price, so I ended up signing online for the $30/month for 6 months deal with a $70 setup fee. I also randomly put in some numbers for SSN and it seem to went through. Though I can't be sure of that. Will it be possible that I call this number up to see if I can sign up again for a lower rate? I'm also in the Bay Area. Thanks

Is the lowest you see $20?

O wow, I see it doesn't show another way. The way I got the $20 to show was http://xfinity.comcast.net/ and click on See offers at http://www.comcast.com/upgrade?CM...ICOM165935 then current customers.

The $20 rate is only if you already have an existing Comcast service like Voice or TV. If you don't want those, then the cheapest I've seen on the Comcast site is $29.99 for Performance for 6 months.

It goes to some 3rd party that Comcast uses for promotions. They usually have better deals than going direct through Comcast. As for what I said, I simply said I wanted to get Comcast internet and the guy on the other line said he'll see what is available in my area. Then started listing prices. It was $15 for Basic (3Mbps), then $30 for Performance and then $40 for Blast.

Just call the 800 comcast number.

Tell them you want to disconnect your service.

Wait for the next day, and have your roommate/spouse sign up online under their name.

Internet goes up almost immediately after you signed up.

What if I sign up under a new account do they still need to come out? Then have them cancel as soon as everything is up and running on the old account.... Just cant afford downtime is this possible?
