If apple is selling refurb for $99 with a 1-year warranty, wouldn't that be the best way to go? It comes with manuals and a new battery and shell too. Too bad you can't get it engraved like a new one, but sounds like it is a great deal as opposed to wal-mart or eBay.

If the price is the same, I would go with an official refurb from Apple. 14 day return, new battery and case, and a real 1 year warranty. Also get earbud and cable.

They do the same thing. A major difference though is the iPod is tiny and very light. It is exactly one half the size of a post it note.

To be quite honest, I have cut way back on slick dealing...funding for my habit is running low. :-\ I have used buy.com, but not sure since it has been rakuten. Better check it out . Thanks.
Understood. This past month I saved so much money on things I couldn't afford to buy, but if you look at it the other way I also spent so much money I couldn't afford to spend, laugh out loud

Isn't the Walmart version a refurb from Apple? If Walmart refurbs them from outside then the iPod does not have a warranty correct?

That makes sense to me, but I don't know the answer. Buying from apple is only $9 more and you get free shipping and definitely get the 1- year limited warranty, plus when I went to Wal-mart's site there were only 2 colors to choose from.

Is this just for media only or can it do run apps and such like an iphone? (Of course without the phone capabilities)

It is my understanding that Walmart is an official Apple dealer and its refurb models should have a new one year warranty. However, Apple's refurb items on the Walmart website do not mention any warranty at all. That leads me to believe there is no warranty. If it doesn't say, I conclude no warranty.

I feel a lot more secure dealing with Apple than Walmart.

I was reading somewhere that you can use the headset that has the mic on it that comes with iphones and the voice recorder app shows up.
It could work with different headsets that have that feature, I haven't tried it yet
