This deal is for some people who can afford expensive watches, but obviously it is not for some people who want to wear Timex.
I am pretty sure some post like this "my timex is better, cheaper and lasts longer than this tag heuer" will be here.
So, the deal is hot for some and cold for others. It is up to you to buy the cheap watch or the expensive watch. Expensive watch doesn't mean that it is a bad deal. Different people might have different opinion. Otherwise, there won't be rich and poor.

FYI : LVMH stands for Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy. They are reputable. They own many well-known brands including Louis Vuitton, Sephora, Zenith, Tag Heuer, etc.

Please note that they charge TAXES. Free Shipping and No Return. There is 2 year warranty for Tag Heuer. If you want to extend it, buy it with some credit card that can extend your warranty.

What's the longevity of Tag watches assuming you don't do stupid things (ie. drop them) with it?

I would rather wind my rolex up then worry about a battery.
Right up until the time that the stem comes off; then PUCKER UP!
(my friend just had that done)

I had one once which started losing time after around 2 years (something a quartz watch just shouldn't do).

Tag wanted $200+ to do anything to it.. which is frankly ridiculous considering the movements in most Tag watches cost no more than $20-30 in the first place!

For the most part, the words "high end" and "battery" shouldn't go together, IMO
I was just thinking that. I haven't looked at Tag in quite some time, but I figured they'd all be auto or manual not battery. I like the idea of winding a watch in the morning personally.

Nope. I have never understood why people pay what they do for Tag watches. You aren't paying for a quality watch or the watchmaker's skill.. just a fancy piece of jewelry.

Battery service on a high end watch is not just swapping a battery. They change all the seals and pressure test it, and then guarantee the waterproofiness for a year from service. If you take your watch in water, as many Tag owners do, I'd suggest sticking to battery service from them. You only need it ever 5 years or so anyway.
Tag's aren't all automatics?
Well, there goes what little respect I had for the brand.

Want to know another secret? Most of their automatic movements are supplied by Swatch.

Calibre 36 is supplied by Zenith. Calibre 1887 is their own movement, but they copied it from Seiko.

Meh, I've gotten over it. Jewelry is never inherently "valuable", and a watch is basically jewelry. I like my Tag because I wanted a sporty, high end but waterproof watch that can both be taken in water without looking ridiculous (my Movado is fully waterproof but looks ridiculous if worn on vacation or to the beach, it's way too dressy).

In any case, automatics would make the point even better. Granted there's no reason to "change a battery", but I'd never want anyone but an authorized professional (or perhaps a watchmaker that I trust A LOT) to crack the case on a high end watch that I ever intend to expose to water. I wouldn't trust the seals after that.

Is ANY brand all automatics? I'm pretty sure even Rolex makes quartz watches, at least a model or two. I know Omega does.

I don't believe Rolex do. They certainly have in the past.

And yes, there are plenty of brands which only make automatics (or manual. ie not quartz).

EDIT - I was wrong.. Rolex make ONE.. the Cellissima in the Cellini collection. I hadn't even looked at their range outside of the Oysters though, so that may be why I thought they didn't.

Are you saying that fancy pieces of jewelry aren't expensive? Value is value. Most can't distinguish a man made diamond from a natural one, but one is a lot more expensive. For me the "value" of something is more based on whether it's retained or not. A Tag isn't as valuable as other brands IMO because it tends to not hold it's value THAT well. You can find 10 year old models for $200-300. On the other hand, it IS a good reason to get a pre-owned Tag, which is what I did. I think that's because Tag has a reputation for claiming that older models can't be serviced to spec. Meanwhile 50 year old Omegas in good condition can still fetch DOUBLE that, easily, and Omega will still service them.

No I'm not saying that.. but many believe they are buying a quality watch when they spend $1000+ on a Tag Heuer, when in reality they are buying jewelry with a $20 movement in it. If you know what you're buying and are happy, all the better for you Smilie
