They're different products - the Overdrive is good for 3G/4G and can have multiple devices using the internet simultaneously; the USB stick is just for the one device that has the USB stick plugged into it and only works in areas where there's 4G.

Can I buy more than one of these (say, a stick for each of my machines) so each gets 500mb/mo, and get around inactivity by sharing data between the accounts in my control?

only works with sprint 4G? Sprint 4G coverage in my area is as fast as dial up..

I think they only allow one FreedomPop device per e-mail address, so you'd have to use a different e-mail address if you already have the hotspot.

I think the hotspot is better because you can use any wifi devices with it. This USB dongle is only good for laptops maybe, and laptops are an endangered species.

I was thinking the same thing actually. If I pay a $10 upfront cost for this stick, maybe I can share all of its data to my hotspot for another several 100's MB free per month. Free shipping really is key. I would have to do this transfer every month though.

Yes, I looked into competing services, like Karma and NetZero, and they're 4G-only as well. 4G is cheap, for some reason.

I ordered one.

Keep in mind that your 1 month of 2GB bandwidth starts the very moment you check out by clicking the Activate button. You will have to contact FreedomPop to ask them to reverse the activate. I just sent them a message by using their Contact Us form located at http://www.freedompop.com/support_wizard.htm.

For your convenience, here's what I wrote (feel free to borrow from it):

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I just placed an order for a 4G Freedom Stick Bolt, and thus have activated my Casual 2GB plan. Can you please downgrade my plan to the free 500MB and issue me an inactivity waiver? Thank you very much.
Hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Isn't this the same offer being advertised with today's Nexus 7 giveaway?
