This is tempting. Can someone verify this will work...

I am about to book a good sized trip >$1k. If I get this card, buy the trip on it, then I can redeem the points I get towards that trip, effectively taking $400 off the cost and leaving me with extra points from the 10% back to use next time.

And has anyone had luck having barclays expedite a card to you? I would like to book this ASAP.

I would certainly appreciate it if you wouldnt mind listing a few cards with $500 in gc's or $600 in travel. Thanks!

This is basically the same card as the Capital One Venture but with a much higher annual fee.
Capital One Venture is offering 10000 miles as bonus. How much does that worth?

10,000 venture miles can be redeemed for $100 worth of travel or $100 in retail gift cards or a $50 statement credit. They had a match-your-miles offer in the past and many were able to get an additional 100,000 miles for a total $1,100.

Anyone aware of their policy on switching between annual-fee and no-annual-fee structures on the same card? I wouldn't mind keeping this beauty after a year.

Still having trouble getting approved myself. Something about too many new accounts Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) (I got the NFL $400 deal and Amex Gold in Feb)

Keep in mind that these types of redemptions count as revenue tickets, so elite qualifying and regular miles are awarded on a flight. I like to think about it as a $440 bonus + $22 for $1000 spend + airline miles (easily 5000 from my typical routes)

does anybody know if buying giftcards for AA or other would work? The implication is you could cash them out via plastic jungle or the likes.
