I can never get ANYTHING with Barclays. It's either I always catch them at the end of my churn schedule, or reconsideration dept. never budges for me. Frown

Already got declined on the 40K US airways card about 2 weeks ago..so there's no point in trying for this one probably huh?

10,000 venture miles can be redeemed for $100 worth of travel or $100 in retail gift cards or a $50 statement credit. They had a match-your-miles offer in the past and many were able to get an additional 100,000 miles for a total $1,100.
I just used the final $700 of that deal, which was about as sweet as it gets. Redeeming points for travel expense is extremely simple with Cap One. Sounds like Barclay doesn't have the same online ease of use, but sounds like a decent deal.

Shite! I never saw that deal posted, and don't find it now when I search. How did you find it? Why did I miss it? Good score.

Perfect timing as I will be purchasing tickets for my trip to Europe by end of the month. I didn't get approved right away but after a day I got an email that I have been approved. I recently applied for a Discover card just to get 5% off at Six Flags so I thought this is not a good time to apply but I need the $400 reward so I tried. Btw my fico is 799. It used to be higher but oh well.

I was able to move the pending application to approved by calling the reconsideration department. Definitely worth a call..

Do you have to wait 90 days before Barclay approves another card?

instantly approved. was planning to get bestbuy gift cards, but the conversion seems very bad. $25 GC for 5000 points. guess statement credit is the best option.

cashback conversion is 40,000 = $200; i guess the statement credit with travel related purchases is worth $400

you are wrong...cashback conversion is $400 and travel conversion adds up 10% bonus to $460...
