Barclay's reconsideration: 866-408-4064 8AM - 5PM EST

To get cash: purchase travel related gift cards from the specific company and sell online for cash.

From the Terms and Conditions:
You can use your miles to: (a) "pay for travel" (Airlines, Travel Agencies & Tour Operators, Hotels, Motels & Resorts, Cruise Lines, Passenger Railways and Car Rental Agencies) purchases made within the last 90 days as a statement credit, (b) redeem for cash back as a statement credit, (c) redeem for gift cards or (d) redeem for merchandise.
If you redeem your miles as a statement credit on your eligible Barclaycard Arrival MasterCard account, the credit will be posted to your account within five to seven (5-7) business days. Statement credits reduce your account balance but cannot be applied toward any minimum payment and are otherwise subject to the terms and conditions applicable to your Barclaycard Arrival MasterCard account.

TripIt Pro membership is $49/yr value

BE ADVISED. STATEMENT CREDIT IS ONLY $200 if not for travel.

Nope, only a statement credit on travel. It equates to $200

How do you figure? Their page clearly says it's good for a $400 credit. Plus you'd get another $20 in credit for the $1000 spent.

40k points equates to $200? The Op states "40,000 bonus miles equates to $400 off your next trip" Which is correct? Thanks. For $400 it's worth it but not for $200.

"If points are redeemed (in $25 increments) for statement credit, they are worth 0.5 cents -- so the 40,000 miles/points is worth $200. Not $400 as I had been led to believe. The points can also be redeemed for various dining, retail, or travel gift cards at the same value. "

look around on other sites about this card. The redemption must be for travel to be valued at $400

This is basically the same card as the Capital One Venture but with a much higher annual fee.

So you book a hotel, a cruise, a flight for $400 and you get a $400 statement credit, correct? That's all I care about.

That's what they always say but in fact so long as you have a SSN you'll have no problems (usually).

I got a personalized offer in the mail a while ago. Same deal but 50,000 points. Spent the 1K in the first month itself and the 50,000 points posted right away. Took a trip to India and used this card almost everywhere. And no foreign exchange fee charged. Usually the other cards tag a 3% fee as a separate line entry in the statements. So this was nice. I didn't use it for any travel related purchase yet so I haven't redeemed them for statement credit yet. But I am hoping it'll be a smooth redemption. I also like the 2% points per $1 spent on everything.
