Allen Edmonds Park Avenue bounce

$280.78 (Amazon.com [amazon.com]) - $56.16 (20% Amazon Shoe Discount [amazon.com]) + F/S (Amazon Prime Free Trial [amazon.com]) = $224.62

I'm assuming that if you ended up here, you understand that Allen Edmonds Park Avenues typically range from $280 - $350 on an average day.

Amazon has an actually VERY impressive selection right now despite being only ion Black and Merlot. They got all lengths from 6.5 US to 13 US and most widths from 3A to 3E in stock. shake head

CA, AZ, KS, NY, ND, KY, PA, WA, TX will get taxed on this purchase vomit

Be sure to check the Amazon Warehouse section. All shoes are listed as "used" but every pair I've received are practically brand new, just missing a box or other accessory. Here's a link to the AE shoes (sizes and prices vary):

not at all. within $300 or so price range / budget AE is the best imo for everyday office wear. give me an example of italian shoes that are better than PA - formal blucher cap toe

Interesting; not what I've experienced. Granted, small sample size, but two of the three pairs of shoes I've bought from warehouse deals were visibly used...creased, scuffed soles, a little dirt. Probably consistent with Amazon's description (I think "good" is described as having been worn 1-2 times). The third pair was fine, but both of the visibly used pairs went back.

What is the least that I could expect to pay for some McAllisters?

AE is pretty much the best shoe you can buy under $300, and they can be completely recrafted for $125. Try sending your Ferragamos or Bruno Maglis back to the factory and see what they will do for you.

Why so expensive? Hand made/Made in U.S.A.?

the PAs are pretty much a standard for men's dress shoe. if you are looking for a classy men's shoe that's not going to cost and arm and leg, the PA is the way to go

The quality is as such that you would never need to replace the upper under normal conditions. They also can always recraft your shoe (new soles/heels) for 125 USD. Basically you send your shoes in and they feel new coming back.

Allen Edmonds make great shoes, they are very comfortable and they are the 1st step for most into luxury shoes. American made quality.

I bought a pair during the semi annual sale a couple months ago. They were on for 250 + tax

Got them in Bourbon and got combination soles for free - clutch for walking around NYC

For real. I picked up an old pair of AE Byrons from Goodwill that needed to be recrafted, best 130 (125 for recrafting, 5 for shoes) I've spent. Great great shoes, great company.

I don't know why, but I feel like a million bucks when I wear italian made shoes to go with an italian made suit. I don't get the same feeling when I go the USA route.

Not sure why Italy was mentioned more than once in this thread. American shoe makers make great shoes (Alden). And I am sure English shoes are even better.

Italians are certainly not bad at making shoes. But their style (strictly shoes) is not that good looking. They might make you fit in better in some offices. But in terms of classic good looking shoes, one should stick with the basic styles, certainly nothing with squared toes for example.

To each his own. I've tried Gucci but they didn't do anything for me. I slipped my foot into a pair of Parkways and fell in love.

Suits are another story. Hickey Freeman makes decent suits but the cuts and materials just don't compare to Zegna or Brioni. The Italians just do suits better.

I work in a business casual environment and currently wear JM rubber soled shoes. My typical outfit is wool or wool blend pants with a button up dress shirt (Brooks Brother or Charles Tyrwhitt) and no tie. Is fhe black Park Avenue too dressy of a shoe for my need?
