this is bad advice. Typically the error exists between the keyboard and chair.

In windows you can adjust the fonts to match your display. You can also adjust the size ofbicons and window borders.

Truthfully, did you really expect that much from a person that says "retarded windows"? He's obviously an Apple fanboy.

Excuse my ignorance, but will this monitor work with a standard DVI cable like the one I'm using on my 1920x1200 monitor?
You need a dual-link DVI cable. It has extra pins in the middle part of the connector that are absent on the single-link cable (you can tell the difference visually). Single-link DVI cannot support anything beyond 1920x1200 resolution. Check your cable, if it has a gap in the middle, it's probably only a single-link cable. You should see a total of 24 pins arranged in an 8 by 3 matrix. If instead you see only 18 pins arranged in two sets of 3 by 3 matrices with a gap in the middle, then it's a single-link cable.

Is anyone else put off by Monoprice's shipping rates, or do you just deal with it because their prices are so good? I wish they had some kind of shipping promo for repeat customers.
Yes. I would love to buy more, but the shipping is crazy. Guess I'm spoiled with Newegg?

Sure you can tweak around and the desktop font may not be ideal to browser or to metro tile, so you will find yourself constantly in tweaking font in different app and software, depending on the day.

This is what I meant by calling Microsoft retarded. I used to think that is inevitable until I saw how font looks on MacBook retina something at much higher resolution, day and night, man, day and night. How technologically difficult to do what apple has done? It is the mindset and I'm wordless at that point.

Excuse the pun. Apples and oranges.

I agree that the displays on apple devices are great. However, did you compare OSX with win7/8 on the same display?

When you setup win8 for the first time, if I remember correctly it asks if you want to utilize "clear type" fonts. There is some kind of calibration mechanism. You can adjust these from the traditional control panel as well.

For me, the font size isn't the issue. If I have to adjust the font size to see on a higher resolution/size display, it defeats the purpose by consuming screen real estate. I prefer clarity.

As far as apple quality, get an apple device then Smilie its not difficult to get "apple" quality for less. Microsoft's business model drove technology to what it isbtoday via economies of scale and competition (hardware companies). You get a wide variety of products and services at different price points. Why can't apple do this?

I agree with Yuvan. My main reasoning for going high resolution has always been for screen real estate. As a computer programmer, the extra screen real estate is ever useful. Enlarging the font would defeat the whole purpose.

Also, in my experience, font size is typically offset by your screen size. It's typically not an issue for 1920x1200 if your screen size is at least 24" or 27" or larger for 2560x1600.

I answered this earlier in the thread. It sounds like you've found it though.

For those still wondering, check post #61 of this thread for the answer.

Me wave I have a bookmark folder with all the cables I need/want <--- Little Defiance reference there Wink and I wait until it fills up or I must have something for someone ==OR== myself and then I try to place an order that gets the maximum out without making the shipping tip the scale, meaning sometimes I delete items out of the cart because they IMO cost too much to ship. Some items that truly weigh very little can bump shipping up $3-4 so I try to play around with the cart before I finalize as well dropping an item or two to save a small chunk of change I feel is necessary.
P.S. sometimes you can't wait or you just don't need a big order... well Amazon carries some of the Monoprice line. Things are definitely more expensive at first glance but not necessarily when you factor in their higher shipping direct from Monoprice (but it varies), or sometimes other vendors similar items will do.

Really? Are the specs wrong? Monoprice lists the red as "64KRO (Any combination)", and says in the description of the blue, "this model supports 64-key rollover". The 4KRO was mentioned earlier, too. Where is everyone seeing only 4KRO?

Edit: Looks like they raised the price back up to $130 for the red anyway. Blue is still $45 - 10% though (at the moment).
Late reply but I saw it in one of the customer reviews, specifically states in that user's experience more than 4 key presses at a time did not register. This usually depends on which keys are pressed based on the keyboard controller matrix but that is what the review stated.

I think their shipping is reasonably priced though my experience is for shipping to California which is closer and therefore probably cheaper. I don't feel that a company needs to lose money on shipping and handling. Monoprice can't be making that much on each cable, the prices are so low and the quality is quite high so I don't feel they are padding prices to cover shipping. Companies do have a right to make a profit.

I would prefer to keep monoprice around rather than force them out of business demanding low shipping costs.

I think you're jumping to conclusions a bit, and I don't want people getting the wrong idea about what I was asking. No one but Monoprice truly knows where they make their money and where/when they can afford to make concessions to woo more business. I'm just curious how other SDers feel about Monoprice's shipping model.

I just received an answer saying my video card will support the 30" monoprice monitors.
Too bad it took 7 days to receive that answer.
I guess I will have to wait until next time they have a sale.

Is there a known expiration date? The item I want has an ETA of 6-18-2013 but I think that might be pushing it...
From the coupon T&C:
