From an article I read the other day, jeans cost about $7 to manufacture.
I'll get stuff from Nordstrom and NM if I really like it, but I don't see the difference in buying a $15 shirt from Costco and a $150 shirt from these stores.
Especially since they were made in the same factory.
I love costco... But the only costco clothes I wear are socks.
Costco shirts, pants, polos have crappy construction. Your seriously better off shopping at ross/marshalls. If your looking for dress shirts, I recommend you look at some "pinpoints" or double ply cotton shirts. Most are are in the $25-60 range. Those are mainly found at brooks brothers, lands end, or jc penny.
I can back that up. I know someone who works for polo and their polos cost only 3 dollars to manufacture!! I thought they sold them to department stores for 10-12 each and then the department stores marked them up to maybe 85 to 100+. Apparently the polos are their bread and butter because the markup is so high so a lot of profit.
Anyway, I agree with people on this thread. Yes it is really expensive, don't bother if this doesn't appeal to you, BUT if high end merchandise like burberry does appeal to you and you do want to try and get things from Nordstrom, now is definitely the time to be doing it. Because it only gets more expensive than this.
That's absurd. They have made a real killing off me if that's the case but its not surprising when it's all made in china. Not sure why stores don't mark their polo clearance down more
You can try Charles Tyrwhitt shirts. They just had a sale; $29.50 per shirt.
They still have the shirt plus tie for $39.50 going on I believe.
The quality is much nicer than Perry Ellis and friends.
LOVE CT shirts. Get them on sale (about $30-$40 each) and pay an extra $10-$20 to your tailor to get them tailored perfectly (unless you're lucky enough that it fits right away). Excellent quality. The brass collar stays they come with are top notch.
Was hoping for a better selection of Allen Edmonds. Clifton @ $200, McTavish @ $220, Parkway @$240, Players @ $224. Nothing extraordinary there. I know the McTavishes were $199 at the last big Nordstrom sale.
