Shipping seems to kill most Massdrop sales from what I've seen.

*edit - Looks like it will be $93 after shipping so I take that back.
Tax in CA kills the deal

god forbid i buy this and it stops working. my amazon seller no longer had these to replacement and had to ship it to china. they wanted me to include photographs of my drivers license, receipt and the actual product. after shipping it off, they didn't seemed to have lost my package. about 3 months later, it arrived back in my mail and by then, my warranty had expired.

Will using this to drive audio from my PC sound better than using my old Creative X-Fi sound card? I've noticed a huge difference in sound quality going from the X-Fi card in my old computer to using the Realtek HD onboard sound.

Sorry if this is an obvious question, but I don't know anything about DACs.

I got one for about this price a month or so ago. As an amp for my iPhone its worthless to me. I just use my E7 as an amp if anything with my Iphone however using the e17 as a PC DAQ I love it. I can use it at work with the horrible horrible onboard sound or even prefer to use it over my Razer soundcard on my home PC.

Overall I do think it has good sound but very very minimal EQ however it does have all the essential features and functionality you could want as a DAQ. As an amp, unless your headphones have a very high impedance its really more trouble (as far a size, weight) than its worth on the go.

Probobly not but it may sound slightly better if it just happens to have a sound profile you like. I know I like it more than my Razer Barracude AC-1 which I use over my Creative X-Fi because the Razer has SPDIF output. This DAQ really is best for a laptop or PC with horrible onboard sound.

buydig does not charge tax for CA, only for NJ. This is mentioned in the payment and shipping tab

"Seller charges sales tax for items shipped to: NJ*(7.0%)."
