Will unlocked Verizon Samsumg Galaxy S4 work on the T-mobile network?

TheBsEr 311 164 June 16, 2013 at 09:41 AM
I'm thinking about obtaining a verizon samsung galaxy s4 through verizon and then unlocking it to use on T-mobile, does anyone know if this device will work without any issues or limitations?

Thanks!

They will unlock it, just call them and tell them they that you are traveling over seas and want to use a local simcard. I think you have to have it for 3 months and be in good standing before they will do it though. Also make sure it will work on T-mobile's network.

why not just get a Tmobile one straight out? yes, it may work but you will be stuck on 2G-3G. It will never get LTE with a verizon phone... not worth it imo!

Do some reading on this on Android forums before just accepting everything everyone says here.

Verizon's recent LTE phones are almost all unlocked out of the box in terms of carrier (bootloader is locked and thats a different thing). For instance the Note2 is unlocked as of the most recent update. (HTC DNA was unlocked out of the box) I can go to europe and pop in a sim and be good to go. IT should work with ATT, Tmobile etc.

Make sure your GSM frequencies match too, if your looking for higher speed data.

definitely do more research. the Verizon galaxy s3 would work on us GSM carriers, but I believe it has data problems and MMS won't work.

the S4 is confirmed by members on XDA to be truly a global phone with APN Unlocked.

The S3 i can confirm is NOT a global phone by default as verizon locks the APN.

This should mean given the radios support Tmobile it should work fine. Other than having all of the verizon limitations on the software and verizon addons that you can't get rid of.
