Amazon Price Match - Here [amazon.com]

Backlight uses PWM (pulse width modulation), so flicker could be perceived or could cause eye fatigue.
Actual contrast ratio is around 1000:1, considerably less than A-MVA but better than some H-IPS panels like the U2410. The higher contrast ratio of MVA will be noticeable in games and films. It also makes text easier to read, according to some. However, there are no MVA panels beyond 1080p resolution.
Monitor uses 6-bit color with FRC dithering.

CNET:

"The Asus PA248Q doesn't quite match last year's PA246Q in performance, but that's to be expected. The PA246Q sported a more expensive panel capable of displaying more colors. There's some clouding and there's evidence of a shallow color palette compared with more expensive monitors; however, its viewing angles are wide and both movies and games looked great."

Trying to decide between this monitor and the Dell U2412M, mainly for photo / video editing. Any advice?

From the reviews I have read U2412M would be better.

And the HP ZR2440W would be better than the Dell but it rarely goes on sale, I am still waiting patiently for a deal on the HP

Thanks! I'm trying to keep the budget under $300 but yeah that HP does look nice. The only thing appealing about the Asus is that it has a factory calibrated 100% sRGB setting. I know it won't be 100% perfect out of the box, but better than nothing.

BTW Amazon has matched the price: http://www.amazon.com/computers-a...B008DWH00K

ZR2440W has gone down to $260 as well so I'm personally waiting for that

Here is a good review of the Asus http://www.prad.de/new/monitore/t...a248q.html
It got a "satisfactory" result while the Dell U2412M got "good" and HP got "very good"

Also if you're in a rush Dell is $277 on Amazon

Fantastic deal! Picked up three of these on the last go around. Rebate cards arrived in about 4 weeks with the standard (not expedited) processing. One of them came with a stuck pixel in the center of the display. Be sure to test your display: http://deadpixeltest.net/

First time I have seen a dead pixel test screen.
Do I just click between the black, red, green and blue screens and look to see if I have a dead pixle?
Thank you & repped.

I decided to pull the trigger. Went to Frys and had them price match it + I still get the rebate. Coming from a cheapo 22" AOC LCD this Asus is amazing. Editing photos on Lightroom is night and day. I think I got lucky with a decent panel b/c there are no dead pixels. Backlight bleeding is only on the bottom right corner and minimal fringing on the other corners. 24" is perfect size as it looks more like a 27" with the way my desk is setup.

Yup, just click through and look for the hot / dead pixels. If you think you see one, it might be dust so try to wipe it off.

For light gamers, is this worth it? Or would it be better to get something more budget based.
