Is it better to get it from amazon or newegg?

Cashback is better for Newegg. e.g. on AAShopping, $1 = 1 mile on Newegg.

Amazon seems easier if you have to return it, especially if you have prime. Newegg's return policy page says "Any return for a refund may be subject to a 15% restocking fee.." http://bit.ly/1bUjl8P

In CA I'm getting charged $23.25 tax + $4 recycling from Newegg. I typed in zip code for Dallas, TX and those fees don't apply so it's YMMV.

BeFrugal [befrugal.com] has 1% CB on Newegg. You need to accumulate $25 in CB before you can withdraw it however.

If you plan on playing PS3 on this, I would suggest getting a 1080p monitor. Yes, this monitor has 1:1 pixel mapping but, it works on very few PS3 games like MGS4. You'll be dealing with a stretched image most of the time even on new games like Last Of Us.

For light gamers, is this worth it? Or would it be better to get something more budget based.
Shoot, I just wrote up a long post for you but slickdeals glitched out:

If you are just mainly using it for gaming, you might not notice it as much. When you are playing a fps, and about to snipe someone usually you don't go "My god look at how true to life his hair color is!" *BOOM*

With that in mind, if you are around friends and want them to watch something on your screen, or if you do some amateur photo editing, you might find it beneficial. I love IPS technology so I got one for light gaming, but I bought a cheap refurb LG 23" 1080p IPS and didn't spring for the 1200p screen.

Trying to decide between this monitor and the Dell U2412M, mainly for photo / video editing. Any advice?
I have a 2412M and it is trash compared to a $350 catleap. I bought the 2412M in feb 2012 and the catleap in 4/2012. If only I had waited!

Still a good monitor just once you see an 8bit ips, there is really no way to go back to dell eIPS swill.

I decided to pull the trigger. Went to Frys and had them price match it + I still get the rebate. Coming from a cheapo 22" AOC LCD this Asus is amazing. Editing photos on Lightroom is night and day. I think I got lucky with a decent panel b/c there are no dead pixels. Backlight bleeding is only on the bottom right corner and minimal fringing on the other corners. 24" is perfect size as it looks more like a 27" with the way my desk is setup.

Yup, just click through and look for the hot / dead pixels. If you think you see one, it might be dust so try to wipe it off.
I had an aoc as well. worth upgrade?

yep, I say get this Auria instead, either from Microcenter or Amazon

Still, if you can't spring for an 8bit panel, I find the PB248Q is preferable to the U2412 due to its color temperature. To each his own, though.

Good call, I've also found I play better on smaller monitors like from my CPL days. I've been using a Asus VS229H-P 22-Inch-Class (21.5") LED IPS Monitor strictly dedicated to my PS3 for COD games.

I love using my XIM Edge with my keyboard/mouse to pwn the controller players! Smilie
I could not afford (time or money) to stay hardware current with a PC, so this works out great! www.xim3.com works on Xbox 360 and PS3.....

yes a fellow catleaper. Im from the good old days when catleap were 280-300 shipped. worth it for 350 but barely now that a dell can be had for a bit over 500. if catleap drops back to 280 I may have to pick up another.
