Book a stay at Mandalay Bay using this offer and receive a $150 Resort Credit! This deal requires a 2 night minimum stay. My total with resort fee+tax was $240 for 2 nights. sunday through tuesday. I was going to stay at the Excalibur, which was $90, but this seemed to make more sense with the $150 resort credit. Not to mention there are a lof of successfull stories on the $20 trick Here [thetwentydollartrick.com]

I didn't try the $20 trick yet but I do have a interesting story. During my 5 day business trip, I decided to book 1 night per hotel. Main reason is so that I don't have to drive after visiting hotel's main night club. It was definitely a hassle to check-in/check-out 5 times... but here's the funny thing.. Each time I hopped, they gave me better comp! I didn't even ask for it. The last stay at Bellagio, they comp me to penthouse. My guess is that these hotels share who's staying and they thought I was hotel reviewer. In anycase, it was a fun experience but I wouldn't do it again.

Just got back from MB after having MyVegas pay for my vacation (I played the game prior to the redemptions going downhill).

A couple points:

The pool at MB is so crowded because of the temps right now that it's unenjoyable after 12pm (not to mention the concrete is like putting your feet on a stove). Your best bet is to go swimming right at 8am when they open. No lines, tons of chairs, much better.

Tons of escalators and other things have been down lately due to the heat. This includes the tram to Excalibur as it's been on the fritz lately.

You don't have to sneak anyone into your room here like it's a big operation. There's so many people going each way that they'd never know and don't really care. Just go chill by the fish tank. Also, try not to check in around 3pm as it will be a madhouse. Go earlier if possible.

The resort fee is a joke mainly due to their wireless service. It's extremely spotty and I would frequently lose it. I was on the 28th floor right by the elevators and would commonly only get one bar of signal.

Do not touch your minibar, the snacks or the love kit unless you want to pay $12 for some M&M's. Very easy to knock over if you're not careful.

I did the $20 trick at the Mandalay Bay a couple years ago. We had two rooms for 3 nights and after the $20 both rooms were upgrade to suites at "The Hotel"

Room was like this,

will do, although you can always just call! i probably wont remember exactly where i used it, but ill try!
Thanks! I did call them, the guy from Mandalay Bay just said "You can use the resort credit anywhere where you can have purchases charged to your room". I don't even know if that is fully true, and/or maybe he wasn't sure himself what restaurants take the credit. Will the celebrity chef places like Burger Bar take it and are you able to charge your bill to your room? Starbucks? The ice cream shop and pizza place that is listed on their website? I don't want to be limited to the buffet, room service, and their spa. For some reason, reports about the available uses for their resort credit is very limited online, yet I know they offer deals like this all the time.

Anybody try to book 2 visits at 2 nights each (4 consecutive nights) to get $300 credit?

Eddie

Never mind. I see the fine print says not for consecutive reservations.
Book 2 nights under your name, and 2 nights under your spouses name. When you go to check in, tell the front desk person that you'd like to link the two reservations and stay in the same room if possible. Smile and be friendly nod

Stayed at the MB 1.5 years ago. Even if you don't get upgraded with the $20 tip, it's still a very very nice hotel. The only thing that got me is that it's at one end of the strip... so getting to the other side (or even the middle), you'll have to pay for some sort of transportation.

Great tips and ideas in this thread though!

should've asked for your resort fee back or they might have comped something...I never tried it but I would think they wanna keep their guests happy

If I had paid the resort fee, I would have, but the resort fees were waived as part of the MyVegas redemption (this was prior to new reservations being changed as my reservation was made back in February).

MB's a great hotel with the best pool in LV, but location is definitely a bummer. The Mirage/Bellagio area is always the best as it's smack dab in the middle of everything.

tropicana is far from the strip too, so hope you like walking, are renting a car or have money for cab fare. unless you want to stay at tropicana the whole time Smilie
Sorry but that´s not true: The Tropicana is ON the South Part of the Strip and right across the Excalibur. Both are on Las Vegas Blvd South/Tropicana (also are NewYork, NewYork and MGM Grand). You´re pretty much at the southest part of the Strip where everything is happening. The Mandalay Bay however is the last big hotel on the south part of the Strip not counting the hotels on the Las Vegas Blvd but really further south (for example South Point or M). Mandalay Bay´s free Tram connects also the Luxor and the Excalibur.

Some tips from a local:
1. To get cheap theater, helicopter rides, tours and restaurant tickets have a look at the boxes on the sides of the roads on the Strip. Next to xxx offers there also coupon books and flyers - a lot half off or 2-for-1. Don´t be afraid to walk into Motels to find more coupons. There are even some free Magic Show tickets (Flamingo and Ballys - balcony seats but only $10 upgrade price as opposed to almost $50 for the same show - but only on special days - usually Tuesdays and/or Fridays) for up to four people.
2. Another way to get cheap tickets: There are some box offices over the strip (One a couple hundred yards north of the MGM and one inside the north entrance of the Casino Royale). If you go there very early in the morning you MIGHT be able to get half off tickets for big shows on the same day!
3. If you´re in Vegas don´t forget to get a VIP or Members Card. Sometimes (and with lots of luck) you´re able to get up to $500 free play. Don´t forget you can only get one card per Casino group (for example MGM or the Flamingo group). Downtown is better - especially on Friday and Saturday. After the Sky show (weekend nights hourly) go to the entrance of some casinos (especially 4 Queens) and you can get an additional $10 Freeplay coupon next to the $10 sign up bonus if you collect a special amount of points. Sometimes they´re lying inside the casinos. BTW: Forget about the $50 Freeplay at the Casino Royale: In years I´ve never seen anybody even win 1$ (You only win if you hit a jackpot).
4. Next to the Mandalay Bay/Excalibur Tram there´s another free (wired) Tram connecting the Mirage and Treasure Island. It´s on the right of the entrance of the Mirage and in the back (upstairs) of Treasure Island. Don´t forget Treasure Islands Pirate Show and Mirages volcano Show.
5. If you´re not renting a car and stay for longer than 3 days buy your Bus Ticket at a Walgreens, Albertsons or CVS store (I´m actually not sure if the stores ON the Strip offer those tickets - you might have to go Off Strip). The 5 day ticket is $20 (on the strip you get a 3 day ticket for $20). With those tickets you can also ride the Strip Busses (Express SDX and Double Decker but not the Open Top Bus). Be careful with the Strip Express: Even though you can just enter it without showing you ticket it´s NOT free. I´ve seen several people paying fines for that.
I hope I could help a little. I have more but not really the time right now.
6. Don´t forget the free buses to the Palms or Gold Coast/Orleans. They leave at Ballys side entrances (the Palms bus closer to the Strip and the Gold Coast/Orleans bus farther at the Food Court entrance in the back of Ballys). The Palms has an awesome free Sky show on the weekends every hour starting at 8pm.

Yes I'm very aware of where Tropicana is. The southern most part of the strip may or may not be where you want to be depending on what you are doing on the strip. Yes there are many trams but if you want to get from Tropicana to Paris, for example, you're in for some serious walking, Tram or no Tram. And if you need to get somewhere in a pinch, like be on time for a poker tournament at Aria or Bellagio, you are going to need to leave with at least an hour maybe more on foot to get there if you arent distracted a long the way.

Also Groupon. I used Iflyelite's offer and the experience was amazing, the pilot was awesome (who now no longer works for iflyelite unfortunately), and everything went smoothly.

Just remember if you are trying to get somewhere quickly, the Tram may or may not work for you depending on when you catch it and how far you have to walk to access it or decide to keep going on foot/break down and get a cab. Otherwise the Trams are great!

Good idea if you plan to go to downtown more than once. The cab ride is a decent trek and the fare round trip is more than the bus ticket, but you have the convenience of going and coming at your leisure, not at the mercy of the bus schedule. Going downtown for one night was enough.

FYI - I had booked my room a while back with this offer but I kept double checking and the price per night went down $8 today for my dates. Saved me $24 plus tax. Well worth canceling and re-booking. just an FYI!
